| [Equipment] A Rumor and A Question I had 2 dropped connections this past week. Made a post in the WS Direct forum and got a very fast response (thanks WS), and a tech came to my home that afternoon. Wasn't able to find a problem at that time, but he did offer to replace the Speedstream 4300 modem with a Sagem 1704 & I agreed. Haven't had any trouble since. He offered his opinion that the Speedstream modems are or will be discontinued by WS and that the Sagem modem/wireless router would be the standard equipment in the future. Any truth to that, or is his opinion just a guess?
This Sagem seems to be a G-router, and so far I haven't found anything to suggest that it is available as a N-router. Is this correct? and if yes, are there plans to make N-routers available? |

| I've seen nothing that suggests the 4300 modem will be discontinued - your modem may have just been bad, but you would probably have had more disconnects if that were the case.
The 1704 is B/G only, so if you want something with N you'll have to find another router to connect to the 1704 to serve up an N signal. |

 | reply to AZinOH any new orders you either get a sagemcom 1704 or my preferred sagemcom 4300 modem.
I had the 1704 and wasn't pleased because it was not gigabit speed and was only 54g. NON 802.x N.. |

On that note if new service is ordered the 1704 is what the customer will receive. Windstream is making an attempt to make our network more uniform across the board. The company is trying to eliminate some problems by simplifying the network and reducing the many different types of modems that we have out there. The problem with the 4300 is it is not compatible with many of the network upgrades that are taking place. Hope that clears up some of the confusion.

 | Now you have me curious: which network upgrades that are taking place is the 4300 not compatible with? |
