Wind Gap, PA | [WIN7] Odd SSD capacity usage? I've noticed my SSD space seems a bit low, so I went in to clean it up via OverDisk and see that it's reporting a ton of redundancy in the My Music folder... When I right click on My Music and go to properties, it's only saying 1.38GB is taken up. As I go up the "ladder" in the image above, it keeps cycling between Documents/My Music with the space occupied decreasing each time. Which do I believe, OverDisk or what Windows is telling me?

Harwood Heights, IL | Not familiar with that software. Could you try running WinDirStat? It will list you all of your folders and arrange them by most space used on your SSD and/or HDD. |

Perhaps because a SSD is NOT a circular disk, therefore does not store data the same way a HDD does.
(TRIM, and Garbage Collection may be responsibe for a lot of why you're seeing this as well.)

Is the software aware of file system features such as junctions etc?
Any program that believes that a file can only be reached by one path is doomed to confusion.
A case in point is that 'My Music' simultaneously is and is not inside 'My Documents'. |
