 | OOL charged me for one year for boost with no boost modem should I ask for a credit? This makes me pretty mad. I recently had a tech come out to the house to once again check why I had a low low upload speed when he discovered I did not even have a boost modem. I still had the Motorola surfboard (black one) |

 | reply to lotust251 I've heard multiple field techs that have said incorrectly that the docsis modems are not "boost" modems, even before boost plus. Since it was not a white Motorola, you were boost-capable, but not boost plus ready as said above. |

 | reply to lotust251 thanks for the replys guys. I thought I got robbed for a while. Well you know were getting robbed anyways.. haha cheers. |

 | Have you received speeds faster than 15/2? Easiest way to tell you have boost is by checking your upload speed. It should be 5 instead of 2.
As others have said D3 modem is only needed for Boost + and Ultra. Some of these techs need some more training. |
|
 | Why not just have Cablevision just go DOCSIS 3 completely and just give out modems to the standard tier as well since it provides stability in speeds overall vs still using DOCSIS 2 modems with DCC that doesn't always work (makes the modem reboot each time it happens)? |

| Because the vast majority of standard tier users are not high bandwidth users and never see a Dynamic Channel Change. If you consider that OOL has, if I recall correctly, over 2 Million users and upgrading all Docsis 2.0 to 3.0 modems would likely cost around $50Million, it would be a stupid business decision. -- Warning, If you post nonsense and use misinformation and are here to argue based on those methods, you will be put on ignore. |

| reply to kickass69 I'm on the standard tier and they gave me a D3 modem.
My guess is they are only buying D3 modems, but refurbishing the D2s and using them on standard tier installs. I think it is a mistake - better off selling them on the secondary market and installing only D3, which will be less expensive due to reduced service calls.
It would be a mistake to have a replacement program - there are probably terayon and sharkfin users out there that are still happy as clams. -- NOTHING justifies terrorism. We don't negotiate with terrorists. Those that support terrorists are terrorists. |

If you are getting "robbed", why not cancel? Or buy a few shares of CV and get rich? -- NOTHING justifies terrorism. We don't negotiate with terrorists.
