I wonder if they'll eventually reopen as a private site. What will eventually happen is when the industry is ready to offer affordable online alternatives then almost every major source of pirated material will go under naturally.. this is just a case of fear of "johnny law" |

 | reply to Stem Bolt I'm sorry but I don't see how the industry would make online alternatives affordable. They won't have any competition once all the other file-sharing sites are gone. Eliminate competition and then they can charge whatever they want. |

Yah, but what are you going to pay for access to all the worlds content.. $50 or a $100 a month..? no you want to pay netflix's/usenets price of about $10 a month..
The bottom-line is people are going to continue to stop paying for cable.. cable over internet should be available we have the technology/it's easy to do.. but where are all the bluray quality streams we can run on some of our broadband connections?
Bottom-line is there is a war of resistance on change.. that these companies are adopting and all there going to find is eventually it will continue to be more and more unprofitable said by howardfine:You are the first person online that I've read who understands what's going on. I've always understood.. the RIAA and MPAA are using dirty tactics/resistance to save their business model.. (now theyre buying lawmakers see all the legislation they keep bringing up here and abroad!) there going to find at some point.. that's not working! and they will change.. for now they continue to be very resistant to change.. and everyone else keeps demonstrating change to them.. and they just shout and throw up their hands and being cranky like the negative people/company they are.. only when they turn into the light.. the new reality.. will they see growth and profit.. and they are turning! Look at how apple made music affordable and easy..
That Kim Dotcom guy made hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars off copyrighted work.. and if you look at that from a business perspective.. that's a ton of online revenue the companies that own that work lost.. because they didn't even MARKET it to those clients.. and maybe they didn't market it at a more affordable rate..
Ironically, the makers of the content are in a type of price/content war with pirates.. and they might want to change their prices and their product to beat them out.. if they did.. they eliminate or severely hamper "piracy"
They have the upper-hand in this war.. if they would only take the initiative and do the work that needs to be done.. bring the product to market the way it needs to be brought..
Now, maybe today that's still not feasible but at some point.. it will have to be.. |

| reply to Stem Bolt As history tells us when something like this happens more sites will pop up in its place. While things seem down now, it wont be long before people wont even remember BTJunkie.
Remember Supernova? Not many people missing it today even though it was the public torrent hosting site to be. |
