[WIN7] Remote Desktop Connection Unable to Connect

My Windows 7 Pro 32-bit machine was working fine. Suddenly one day I try to RDP into it as I do any other day and I am unable to connect. I verified that:

1. RDP was enabled
2. Any version of RDP can connect
3. Correct user has permissions
4. Checked Windows firewall and everything looks correct
5. Correct port has been forwarded
6. Checked registry and the correct port is set

When I check netstat port 3389 is not listening. Anyone know how to enable the RDP to be listening?

If the Remote Desktop [RDC] host is not listening on TCP Port 3389 see if the Remote Desktop Services service is running. Go to Start, search on services or services.msc in the search window, highlight on services or services.msc and right click then select Run as administrator. If the service is not running start it.

If the service is running, perhaps your ISP started blocking the port? 3389 is a dangerous port to be using anyway, so why don't you change it in the registry, open it up in your firewall, add/change a rule in your router, reboot and give it another try. I always use www.canyouseeme.org, enter the port and see if I get success on the connection, to test. I frequently use 3390 or 3391 without issue. Also, some routers have a check box by the rule that can easily get de-selected that would disable it.

Edit: If you are sure 3389 is not listening, then forget the ISP idea. It has to be something on your PC.
