 | [modem/router] Modem causing line noise Hello , I have recently been setup with new land line and DSL service and have been noticing some static on the line. Today I have been able to pinpoint it to the modem (a versalink 7500). I only have one corded phone in the kitchen with the wallplate filter installed and the modem is hooked up directly to a jack in the bedroom.
While the modem is on I can hear static on the line, as soon as I turn off the modem it goes away. I have tried the phone and modem on varying jacks, as well as the NID and a different phone cord for the modem, and am now at a loss as to what the issue may be. |

 | I have tried using different filters with different jacks, and different cords for both the phone and modem.
If the modem is off (or phone plugged in at NID) the lines are clear, as soon as the modem connects to the internet theres static |

 | reply to jimm0thy Do you have access to another modem? How old is the main interface to the house?
Maybe grounding issue? |

 | I don't have another modem no, as far as age the NID is around 12yrs. It has 2 wire runs coming off it, 1 that was originally placed when the house was built and another cat3 that goes directly into the bedroom with the modem that was put in with the NID.
The house was my grandparent's, and built in the '50s. So I'd say the original wiring as well as outside pole line is around 60yrs old.
I was debating rewiring, however the issue is still present at the test jack in the NID - as well as no improvement in modem trans stats. |
