[WIN7] external hard drive question (format)

I was messing around showing my friend how to mount his external WD drive on his mac and in order to save a file I had to format it..

Anyways long story short He wanted me to take the drive home to move some stuff over however I can't get the drive to show up on here and under the disk manger service I have no option to format as well.

How can I get it to show?

ok I think I got it but it does not say what it had in the last version of windows it makes it seem like it was going to run as RAID

Someone quote me if I am wrong:

If I understand your post correctly, you formatted the hard drive using a MAC, depending on what format you used you may or may not be able to read the drive. Sounds like you may have formatted the drive in a MAC format not FAT or FAT32 hence why Windows 7 cannot see it.

There is a program called HFS Explorer that allows a windows based machine to read a MAC drive. Looks like it has not been updated in a while so I am not sure the compatibility of Windows 7 would be.

You may find another program around to do the same thing. Either that reformat the drive and recopy everything, good luck.

well it was a new drive and I only moved a small test file over for him so it was no big deal.. I formatted it back to NFTS i think mac can read that but not write to it which is no big deal at the moment.

Yeah, if you plan to move things back and forth you may want to go with a more universal format between systems.
