Re: [Official] Tera Online Thread It's engine-based, so perhaps eventually, but all MMOs will typically stress a CPU a whole lot more than any other game. |

4 edits | reply to I AM Tera is a modified Unreal engine, so any subsequent Unreal engine updates will NOT help Tera at all. Tera runs best with 2 cores (not hyperthreads and more cores will not matter) running at the highest Mhz on the fastest widest RAM possible (4gb is more than enough for this game, your OS and it's overhead). GPUs only add to the eye candy they do little for your FPS and Latency, and SDD's or a 64bit OS will only help load map area changes faster. a wideband docsis3 type ISP connection also helps FPS and Latency significantly not because of the up:dn speed, but the double bandwidth as Tera servers can accept up to 4 channels per play client.
BTW if you use a recent NVidia Card, rolling back to an earlier driver version may actually help Tera run better; »www.reddit.com/r/TeraOnline/comm···ics_lag/ remember this game has been out of beta for nearly 2 years in Korea, so fancy new stuff like Quad Cores, Quad RAM, Ivy Bridge, PCIe3 and even SSD's won't matter. |

who modified it? did the makers of Tera?
if so, hopefully they will modify it again to utilizes GPUs more, and offload some stuff from the CPU |

| reply to I AM IAM - they are improving the zerk a bit to make them better at 1v1 pvP... i know you are not coming back to Tera, just thought you might like to know;
First is planned (patch) to go live during the early morning maintenance hours on July 31st... for the 17.34.04 patch, we have berserker tweaks which include certain skill's charge time adjustments and others for better class balance...
Beef; the modified engine developers are long gone, so the best we can hope for are additional content and balance changes. |

cyrus360Getting Freaky With ItPremium join:2003-02-16 Sedro Woolley, WA | reply to I AM I ended up cancelling my account. Once I hit 60 and got enough gear for hard-modes, it still wasn't challenging. I tried some alts but of course everything was too repetitive and I got bored quick.
I was thinking of trying to sell my account online and buy a Diablo 3 account but apparently Tera's 3rd party billing company, Digital River is completely fucked up and there is a "bug" that doesn't let you, or En Masse remove any of your billing info on the account.
They say they can, but you have to talk to customer service and once you do, they basically can't do anything but have you add a new card number, but your name, address, etc all stays on the account. Which makes me nervous selling it. -- »www.freakynorm.com |

| yeah, selling tera accounts is a pain cause the original personal info, dob, forum name, and security question can't be changed. you can change by yourself to a different billing source, and the email address the account is based on, but only with chat support help. to be honest, there is not much of a market anymore for tera accounts.
my advice; put your account on Manual renewal - buy a few chronoscrolls with ingame gold from other players and keep the account active a few more months - that way when Septembers Argon Queen hits (new 58 glyphs, t14 gear, new instances) if you want to come check it out, you don't need to spend $15 to reactivate your account.
already by mid august there will be battleground enhancements and 4x5 member party raids after nexus, so enmasse is obviously trying to keep players happy going into the GW2 launch week. BTW at your stage of game play most are getting hot and heavy with pvP and GvG, so if all you are doing is pvE then it's no wonder you are bored |

Beef join:2012-05-16 027054 kudos:1 | reply to I AM Tera monopolized the bulk of my gaming this weekend.
After I get my slayer to 60, my next goal is to get a zerker to 60 with 6+months of game time stored up
I have always been a melee type of guy, and I've seen some bad ass zerkers wrecking shit lately... in PvP and PvE
my biggest motivation for playing is that, it's free (with chronoscrolls), and that the PvP coming is epic |

@packeteers or whoever knows: is the only thing that matters in enchanting gear, that the sacrificed piece is the same Tier level?
or does item level come into play as well once you hit +3 on a piece? |
|
Arsinic join:2011-02-17 Ruffs Dale, PA | reply to I AM The higher the enchantin glevel the better gear you will need to sacrifice to get the enchanting to be a success. This is where the end game grind really comes into play. If you want all your gear +9 and your master works +12 better be prepared to farm orange gear over and over. Id suggest a pillow over your keyboard for when you fail to go +9 10+times in a row.. |

 Beef join:2012-05-16 027054 kudos:1 2 edits | reply to I AM thanks
this almost sounds like you are going to have to farm each piece of PvP gear 10 times the same thing
this is ultra asian influence
sounds like enchanting is a waste of time unless you are max level, with max gear for that spot
insane! |

1 edit | Beef, here are some ideas on what I did to conserve the most gold for future upgrades. (1-2white, 2-4green, 4-6blue, 5-7gold).
make glove/boot/chest t12 to +7 and focus on rolling good mods. the reason you should stop at +7 is +6 gives you the mod, but +7 gives you the item score boost.
stop at +6 on your weapon, and roll for best mods. i know it's cool to go higher for glow, but it's where players waste the most money (i may be biased since as a mystic my weapon is not essential - the mods on it are).
for your primary dps buy top item score rings and earrings, and save to buy a fantail 4% neck - don't bother with socket jewelry until you are revered and earn it through reputation vendors which may take a few Months!
at this point you should nudge 146 and can survive fane hardmodes to farm t13 fodder.
do your daily's and nexus as often as you can, and farm mob in Val Treki for reputation instead of doing the dailys from NPCs there since you are limited in how many dailys you can do. you'll also get good gold and t12 fodder drops while there.
the idea here is to save up for t13 +9all masterworks, which will be as good as t14 +6's that will be nearly impossible to accumulate - these will be needed for the 152 item score Argon Queen instances will require in the Fall. what's nice about masterwork is if you get rich, you can keep pushing your t13 gear up to +12 so you won't get any t14 envy.
remember masterworks don't just have additional modifiers, but the base modifier are all 10-20% better as well, so see your t12 work now as a means to an end.
don't forget to ToT for 58 glyphs etc on your primary DPS - no need to bother with the secondary you are not taking to t13 and beyond. at the moment i'm working on my pvP glyphs, having ToT'ed for my pvE's already - ToT is terribly time consuming so try to squeeze them in as often as possible. focus on the most useful glyphs, since the fall update will be adding NEW glyphs but not MORE points!
splitting your focus between 2 DPS is not important since you can pass t12 gear and socket jewelry rewards through your bank - but you cannot do that with t13's, so if you are smart you'll have one DPS daily in 2-3 maps while the other does the 2-3 remaining maps, but keep only one focused on argon/nexus once you decide which DPS you want to take all the way.
it's a game, play it as you like - just giving you something to think about remember to have fun with pvP and guild stuff - if you focus too much on farming you will get nuts. |

1 edit | reply to I AM i know few play tera on dslr anymore, but i just had to show off;
i got a +6 t13 masterwork pvP chest and rolled double reflect on it,
so now my mystic is 148 which means no HM party will boot me,
and gankers who attack me will only end up killing themselves

Arsinic join:2011-02-17 Ruffs Dale, PA | reply to I AM Nice.. My account has been active, I just haven't logged into Tera in almost a month. I wasn't even aware the patch with pvp gear dropped, I may have to give that a try. One of my biggest complaints when soloing or farming on my priest was when I inevitably got ganked, There was no way I was killing anyone, I 'd have to just heal my self and run to town. The stupid thing is you can heal through 2or 3 bad dps, but you can hardly win a 1v1 The reflect though seems really nice! |

4 edits | pvP gear does not drop or craft, you have to gain Agnitor reputation from dailys and nexux events on fri-sat-sun only, so if you have not started yet, it could take you a half dozen weekends just to accumulated enough points for a t12 pvP set. the advantage of pvP set is 30% less damage taken from players. getting reflect mods is possible on any enigmatic chest. most healers on pvP servers do pvP set chest glove boot, and pvE weapon for better party support mods. if you are on a pvE server, don't bother since only very active gvG guilds benefit from pvP gear. now is a good time to return to game since instance drop rates were increased you can now buy more with your gold than before. the major Argon Queen update should be here by end of August, so most active like me are busy gearing and glyphing to be ready for all the new end game content about to be added to this game. read the: Reputation System/Daily Quests and Nexus sections for more on getting gear from reputation instead of drops and crafting. » tera.enmasse.com/news/patch-note···h-172501Reputation stores offer (unique) items purchasable with (little) gold and with (mostly) accumulated credits. Items include green (zyrk) accessory (socket jewelry) crystals, materials for accessories, accessories (top socket jewelry), mounts (black leopard, warhorse), and various consumables. pvP gear also has a more distinctive look - if that matters to you in Tera most armor colors and dyes are earth-tone, metallic or pastels, so anything with black or red is highly coveted.

4 edits | level 0-60:138 is about 100-200 hours of game play depending on class and success completing instance parties and BAM quests. another 100 hours to get to 60:142 or 100 hours for 2 useful rare skill glyphed and so on every +2 item level or +2 glyphs. the ultimate goal is 60:152 fully glyphed which will be required to survive the most insane of the endgame content to be added by September. 60:154 is the highest possible item score in game thus far, but will probably rise to 60:160 once t14 and higher item score jewelry is added to endgame by September.
in deciding if you should play Tera or GW2, i think it boils down to real time target based action or wider ranging content and weapon-skill variety. personally i like both games, but i stay with Tera since it's really a new game play environment and interface for me to enjoy, while GW2 seems like a glorified Lineage 2 or WoW again. so I'm content with Tera at least until Lineage Eternal comes out, and offers the kind of gameplay Diablo3 wish it had
I know there are a lot of GW2 fanboys here, but let's be honest. In GW2 your party can tab target a boss, use a short cooldown skill that auto repeats, then you can go AFK for a few minutes to make yourself a light snack, return to your screen to find the boss dead, you still alive with full raid credit. anyone who's played Tera for more than a few hours knows you simply can't get away with that kind of gameplay - and there in lies the main difference between Tera and the majority of other MMO's out there. I'm not saying Tera is better, just different enough to hold it's appeal for many a jaded MMO player.
eventually when GW2 goes on sale for 50% off, I will probably dabble in it as well, just not as thoroughly as I want to explore Tera. Ironically since Lineage Eternal and GW2 are both from NCSoft, it's possible LE will get further delayed to allow GW2 a chance to thrive without LE stealing away GW2 players. this is probably another reason why GW2 is not pay to play since NCSoft may hope you'll switch games every 6 Months or so, and pay extra for special in-game items they sell at their cash store. |

Oh well, I believe my priest was 146 and my warrior was scrub mode quest gear. I'll probably end up playing around on the warrior if items are that cheap. I had 6kish gold when i last logged in so well see what I can grab. My sub is good through Sept so perhaps I can farm the pvp gear before it drops.. |
