cosmetic items from cash shops or game achievements is a common element of most MMOs including GW2 so obviously a lot of players like having them. at least it's better for game balance and fairness than the pay to win shop of OP items you saw being sold in D3. We won't know how new instances will get implemented in USA till they are. at least we are getting them long before the Euro servers do.
In my case, since I already have a t13 masterpiece pvP armor chest that i can potentially take up to +12, this means I won't "look" any different for the foreseeable future, so having a novelty skin like a bikini once in a while helps break the monotony of seeing the same looking avatar constantly. as for the glasses - you are right, they are kind of silly because anyone can just buy them at the cash shop, so they don't show off any real in game achievement beyond just dumb luck.
It's unfair to compare to Korea for a 2 major reasons; they are a year ahead with a different language and game culture. and Korea's ISPs are triple the average speed and a third the Latency of North America, in a country the size of Kentucky. load balancing 30 highly interactive players in the same instance is a lot harder in NA than Korea. enmasse moved it's hosting from Illinois(central) to Washington(pacific) so that didn't make life for atlantic coast players like me any easier.
Honestly, I'm not thrilled with Tera's instance/event handling either, as NA cut & paste Nexus world-boss events from Korea and look what a laggy mess those turned out to be. a few minor adjustments to how the minions spawn and debuffs are spread would cut this problem dramatically, yet after Months of player complaints they have changed nothing. my guess is the developers who wrote the nexus programming no longer works for enmasse so nobody is qualified to modify the code. considering enmasse just laid off a bunch of employees, it's a miracle we are getting to see any major changes at all.
Tera won't die anytime soon since it's target play style is still hard to duplicated in other MMOs, however the population is far lower (most mmo sees this a few months after launch) and enmasse should merge server populations together (especially since player and guild names are already unique to all NA servers). Right now there is a mass exodus of pvP players from other servers to VoT because many active guilds are simply not going to wait for enmasse to act. enmasse mistakenly thinks that instances and events being cross server is enough for player cohesion, but they are wrong. I know many guilds who moved because of battlegrounds - they want to be sure their 15 man team is made of their own guild's actives talking on the same vent channel, not a rabble of pugs from other servers they have to contend with.
you probably won't see flaming skins because glow already comes from +7 thru +12 over enchanting, so it would be unfair to players that made those, if you put out a skin that flamed or glowed even with a +0 weapon.
correct, time scrolls can only be resold thru the gold based brokerage by the original dollar purchaser. regardless, even if you could give I AM a scroll, he'd still have to pay for a Month just to get back in game to use the scroll, which is unlikely as he's pretty focused on GW2 now. thething if you want to play 1080p windowed, let me know and i'll teach you how to edit your INI files for it. personally i don't like playing games in full screen as there are too many other things i need to do with my PC. BTW there is a fukton of more stuff included in next week's aug'22 update besides that 15x15 instance - we are all just waiting for enmasse to post the final patch notes.
Highlights are; a new 60:142 instance for t13 gear or t14 gear in hardmode a new 60:147 ToT like instance for new to game master Glyphs a new 60:153 4 Boss instance for t14 gear. a new 60:138 1 Boss post nexus instance a new 60:138 20 Player post nexus Raid Boss a new 60:138 15 Player complex battle ground instance 7 new 5-man party BAMs added that drop t13/t14 fodder
fewer dire/practicum badges will be needed per master glyph
any 58 and under item will be usable as a gear template.
Warriors and Lancers get a lot of new skills
weakened Zyks (green crystal) prices will require fewer rep points
tons of other stuff added and adjusted - have a good read.
note: 60:138 is unknown what the minimum gear number will be.
sorry you think a 18 Month old well balanced game has stupid pvP.
the only difference between pvP and pvE gear in Tera is; pvP: +10% damage to other players, -30% damage from other players. that's pretty much it. there are also pvP specific modifiers you can roll for and crystals, but they are available on both pvP and pvE gear.
it's not retarded for top geared players to slaughter basic geared players of the same level - every MMO has that going.
you need +12 t13 ALL Masterpiece to hit 154, that's about 300,000 gold worth of gear. if an average DSP can farm 1,000 gold per hour - well, you do the math
sorry, i really don't follow you confuse too many things about this game, but whatever - you seem hostile about this game, so why are you not playing gw2 instead?
bg is a mix of both pvp and pve acheivments, so both gear types will be useful there. while cosmetically certain gear will be specific to bg, other t14 drops will be farmed elsewhere. it's kind of like the zebra mount - it means you beat kelsaik hm, but you run just as fast as others. black gear from bg will mean you are on top of that instance, but people doing other new instances may still achieve better t14 gear than you.
Tera has a great Enigmatic gear system which respects the fact that players who pvP more, can't farm as much, so it does the following;
best: crafted gear (requires other's help and preparation) good: pvp gear from nexus (can manage on your own with work) fair: instance dropped gear (can do alone/party-match from luck)
so you grind to craft which requires party help, you get the best gear. if you pvp all week and only grind nexus/dailys solo weekends, you still get good gear. if all you do is farm alone and party with strangers for lucky boss drops, you get fair gear. i'm not saying it's the best system of all mmo's ever written, but it works pretty well for Tera.
here's my old pvE set with a new template - hope you like it
IAM it seems with better charge speeds and party pvP has made Berserkers the new allstars of battlegrounds! while everyone is busy with pvP and BAMs etc. they waltz up to enemy and just 1-2 shot them to death... LOL
