 | reply to DAOWAce And what type of modem is this?? |
|
 | reply to DAOWAce I recently got my Arris swapped out from a TM802G to the latest Arris model they offer.....the TM822G a couple of weeks ago. It already had the latest firmware that you posted on it.
When I had the previous TM802G modem it had December 2010. |
|
 | reply to DAOWAce Yup. Business as usual: New firmware (7.3.123) arrived on your modem in the middle of maintenance hours, not randomly, as you worded it. And as kickass69 mentions, the new TM822 already has 7.3.123 right out of the gate.
My TM802 still shows this in the "HW/FW Versions" tab: BOOTR: 1.2.1.46 SW_REV: 7.3.65A Firmware Name: TS070365A_120610_MODEL_7_8 Firmware Build Time: Mon Dec 6 15:51:26 EST 2010
So you got 7.3.123 then, which makes every sense in the world - you don't let your installed base fall further behind a vendor's released code than necessary - a 3+ months delay between vendor-build and deployment sounds like a very reasonable test-cycle to me, too: you're probably not the first person to receive this upgrade, only the first person to post about it. |

 | My modem didn't reboot but since yesterday every single one of my boxes has rebooted 4 times all at the same time with a message that reads "device requested reboot" -- Email/MSN: Michael at hardwaregeeks.comAIM: MikeR35292 |

 | reply to DAOWAce This might tie into the Morris County system yesterday on 2/8/2012 getting a 5th channel bonded to the downstream side. |
|
 | reply to cablewizzard Talking about not letting your installed base fall further behind than necessary...I noticed the Cisco DPQ3212 I have still has the November 2010 firmware. |

Modem firmware & cmts/node work are handled by different groups, so no relation. Generally firmware is rolled out to a small area at the start after testing to ensure nothing that no critical outages/impairments occur, then it is rolled out everywhere else (not at once, but not too far apart). Any timing would be coincidental. |

 | reply to chunk73 Apparently got mine at about 5am yesterday morning (2/8) Modem rebooted about then it shows and now has the new firmware that's listed above. |

chunk73Premium join:2002-02-22 Fairfield, CT | reply to DAOWAce Only noticeable difference in the gui is that when you go to the advanced tab now you just get an unauthorized error where before you would be prompted for a password. No one ever knew what the password was since it wasnt the traditional arris potd, so no big deal really.
However im sure there are more changes in the underlying code. |
|
 | reply to DAOWAce No update in Raritan. Modem uptime is 45 days. |
|
 | Got it at 3:26 AM today on the Raritan System. I see the new firmware includes IPv6 support. |

 | reply to kickass69 I just viewed some SW push to my new Arris TM822G via Event log:
SW download Successful - Via Config file
SW_REV: 7.3.123 which is what I had to begin with.
Wonder what they did?

Deanski Didn't you get a brand-new TM822 just now?
"via config file" (=tftp file) rather than "via NMS" (network management system) indicates that your modem upgraded on boot with DOCSIS's "upgrade on provisioning" feature - and did so in all likeness the very first time it was connected to the cable network, unless it was interrupted before.
Installers know this well - they hook up a new or re-issued modem, it locks to DS and ranges to US, then DS+US lights start blinking at about 1Hz together for a minute or two: that's a firmware download in progress, followed by another reset.
A factory-installed 7.3.123 image may still not be the same as a CV-used 7.3.123 image (images of virtually all equipment vendors are customized for every MSO, at least by Motorola), so that's what it upgraded to. |

000a73ffea5f-bc=1-reg=LI-ver=docsis2.0-mfg=SciAtl-dpc2100 I don't think CV has maintained the DPC2100 in several years, and I don't think they're still giving them out, even for data-only customers like you.
TW/RoadRunner uses the DPC2100 extensively still - and they, too, seem to not have maintained firmware on that box for well over 5 years.
AFAICT, Cisco still makes this product (!) despite it being initially released around 2004. Must be popular in foreign markets... |

 | Yea I kinda though that, but I was looking at the Modem Logs and I saw this listed for Today's date:
Error (4) SW upgrade Failed before download - File not Present
Notice (6) SW Download INIT - Via Config file 000a73ffea5f-bc=1-reg=LI-v... |
|
 | reply to cablewizzard Yes, it was new in box, but never seen that entry till today. So with the delay of provisioning Boot Plus, it must have been done overnight.
