 | Please give suggestion. Which cable ISP do I choose? I live in Montreal. I just cancel Bell 25 7 fibe yesterday. I want to use unlimited plan. I heard from a friend in Bell that bell block torrent from 4 pm to 2 am.
Which one can I choose now? Gemstelecom or distributel?
It seems 8M unlimited plan from gemstelecom is cheaper than distribute. I need torrent download..... but I saw gemstelecom's AD last month. This ISP maybe block torrent download.
Does some1 use torrent download in gemstelecom cable? How about speed? |

 | I just confuse why other ISP never say that?
Example: we are person who observing discipline and obeying the law, do we need print "I'am not robber or rapist" on face? |

 | reply to yym7890 on another thread, Acanac said they were going to have, among others, an unlimited 30mbps cable plan for Quebec. Might be worth it to wait a few days to see those prices. |

Which was the thread where y'all started to work on that spreadsheet (and/or some other ones) ?
Is there a similar one for Ontario ?
Who gets to edit and is a login required ?
Early Suggestion : Move Column 'Q' to between 'H' and 'I' - since monthly rates are being featured early for both Wet & Dry DSL, so should all setup fees, yes ? |

| reply to yym7890 yes, Distributel unlimited 15 is only 3$ more than Ebox unlimited 8.
And when taking into account that gemstelecom's offer for unlimited 8 at 40$ includes modem, router and installation fees, it's the best one around.
Switching to Ebox, if you don't already own a cable modem, is very expensive (165$ plus tax for modem, shipping and installation). Add to that your first month of service, and you are well over 200$ just to get you started. Tha'ts the one thing making me hesitate to switch immediately to Ebox.
And modem rental is only 4-5$/month with Distributel, while it's 10$/month with Ebox.
Of course, I know nothing of gemstelecom quality of service. That's another reason to hesitate.
So basically, I have not made up my mind yet (currently with TSI DSL 6 and Bell POTS -- wanting to switch to cable+voip.ms). And Acanac and TSI have not published their rates yet. |

 | Maybe in Ont but yym7890 is in Montreal, and Acanac have not released their Qc cable rates. |

 | reply to decranez Thanks£¬ If gemstelecom can promise to every1 that it never block torrent and every1 can get same torrent download speed as 8M plan of videotron, I think many customers will move to this company. |
|
 | I've just submit my application to gemstelecom. Let's see how it goes. i think 39.99$ with no up front cost is a bargain... No modem, no installation, no activation fee, unlimited... It's no where nearby Ebox, Teksavvy, Acanac....
Just do your math dude... |
|
 | keep us posted on how it goes. |

(and include at least the first 3 bytes of their IP address) |

1 edit | reply to Ohnoyuji How about your torrent download speed? we do not care about speed of speedtest.net.
if torrent download can got 1M-800K/s, I think 40cad is very good price.
If cannot use torrent download, it will waste my 480+14.5%TAX.
My friends use Videotron and they got high speed of torrent download. |

 | Hopefully they will call me Monday for create my account and setup. I'll keep u Guys posted |
|
 | They called me yesterday, and things seems right. 7 days for technician to setup internet. Hurry for signup if you plan to save some head up cost on your new installation! I've just saw that this gemstelecom is part of Cronomagic Canada inc. Any idea how big this company is?
