When Acanac asked for their own forum they were refused because there wasn't enough traffic for them.
Acanac had 100X more traffic and posts than Ebox.
From what I recall Acanac was quite ticked off, called them out on favoritism and double-standards, so they created their own forum and tell people to post there instead.
A month or so ago I made a topic to request that the forum gods make an Acanac forum, the mods in the "Forum Feature Requests" forum deleted it. So I guess that says something...
I think I will find myself agreeing with Acanac's train of thought if they do create an Ebox forum. |

Hmm... that's kind of interesting. Acanac and its parent company are both noticeably larger companies than EBox. But Ebox is generating quite a bit more discussion on DSLR. And as someone said above, Acanac has its own forum on their website.
So I agree, Electronic Box should get its own forum either on DSLR or host it themselves on their own website. Maybe not now, but soon*.
But preferably not the definition of soon given in a nearby forum on DSLR  . |

I think a lot of people now see Ebox as the "New "Old TSI"". They give out a lot of hope to us-bandwidth starved and bell-abused customers. The saviour... J-box? lol
I can't wait to try the service. Only time will tell if it Ebox is indeed the promised land. |

Not really. Only a couple of topics due to interest in Videotron resale which has sparked interest.
This is coupled due to the growing annoyance directed at teksavvy from people in Quebec, thus the ship-jumping and the added questions.
Really, it's only a couple of weeks of hype due to the new videotron pricing and only a few resellers offering unlimited cable to the Quebec market.
In terms of what such a forum would generate, I would say close to nothing in terms of cable. Even Videotrons own forum barely has internet topics since it just works as sold. The Videotron forum on this board is mainly about TV and not internet.
Discussions about Ebox cable would be far and few in-between, nothing new aside from "my account isn't activated". DSL problems would be the likely leaning, which a couple of forums already cater to here. |

It will be up to Justin to decide. This is his website and he have the right to say yes or no but i think it is now the time as we have no plan to open a forum elsewhere and we want DSLR to be our community.

I agree, they (diskace,nat,dom) are very present in the DSLR community already so why not make a distinct forum for them and their customers. |

I've been here close to 10 years and I gotta say this place is weird about opening new forums.
We have a useless weather forum that nobody cares about, but some forums that could assuredly generate good discussions or helpful threads are often resisted.
I really do not know why.
Ebox will soon require a direct forum, considering the subscriber boost. There are already technical issues. Perhaps a discussion forum could soon follow.
Acanac/Distributel does not require a forum... they have barely no presence here and whatever presence they have is meaningless, as Acanac uses its own forums to provide support. They struggle enough as it is, I am 100% sure they do not have the manpower to handle a forum here.
I also do not think the subscriber base is bigger than ebox's. |

They made their own forum because of the double-standard they were getting (according to them). They were quite vocal about it.
You have to look at the whole DSLr-Acanac history prior to them making their own forum out of spite and giving DSLr the finger.
But that seems to have gone above your head after your 10 years here.
I've never been an Acanac user or even an Acanac fan, but damn. How can someone who has been mod here for 10 years have missed all this? Blind leading the blind....
Basically what you are saying is that Ebox is willing to pay for a direct forum in order to get their own forum. That is the essence of what you just posted. |
