| [STB] Wierd message from the STB (new TV) After installing a new TV (Philips) to a new RNG110 using a HDMI cable, I am getting this message:
"Lost HDCP connection with your display. Trying to re-establish HDCP connection." It has a OK button to dismiss the message..
it only pops up when I turn on the TV. Any idea why this pops up? -- »www.litman.com |

| I see a similar message on occasion with my TiVo.
HDMI is a DRM-laden protocol.
Sometimes the Digital Restrictions Management handshake between the connected devices either doesn't work correctly or is taking too long to complete. After a certain period of time, the message is shown, informing you that the DRM handshake attempt has failed and is being retried.
With my TiVo, the message has always disappeared within a few seconds. |

| reply to lordie The remote Comcast supplied turns the STB on first and then the TV when the Red All On Button is depressed. On the Motorola STB after the TV boots up, the following is displayed on the STB display: DU1 Then the Picture comes on and then the Sound. Sometimes the sound is delayed for several seconds.
I recently had a problem playing a Blue Ray DVD. I had to update the firmware in the Blue Ray in order to play the disc. Some time ago an article in a video magazine mentioned that the firmware in TV's with HDMI might have to have their firmware updated in order to continue using the connection. Both of my HDTV's have a USB port which I believe can be used to update the HDMI and TV's Firmware. |

PaoloMr. Wireless join:2004-05-29 Canada | just because the Comsat supplied remote turns on the stb first, does not mean you have to keep using it that way. most if not all remotes are programmable. My aunt remote for her time warner did the same and i re-programmed it to turn on the tv first then stb. just read the manual and look for power on macro. its in there and it solved the hdcp issue -- Happiness is like peeing your pants... | reply to Mr Matt That's actually "DVI" as in Digital Video Interface. I believe it's part of the handshake process. I know, it does look like DUI.... |
