wireless problem

My connection seems to keep breaking from my netgear router.. in windows 7 is shows as having a excellent signal full bars but as soon as I start something like 3 heavy downloads it breaks the connection like every 20 sec to a minute.. Over and over again...

I don't understand what's going on?

Router is netgear WGR614v9.. I can confirm that when it drops it kills the wireless to all the devices with utorrent going like about ever 20 seconds or so.

ok seems fine so far with DHT turned off.

Check whether your router is rebooting. If it is, there are probably flashing lights.

yeah seems to be but it seems to be the amount of connections and DHT.

however I've seen issues in online gameplay as well.. will be fine in BF3 then the ping will spike to 300 ms..

But funny thing is if I play like TF2 I never have a high ping lol

Two things I can think of :

1) Get a program like netstumbler or inssider and check your signal strength when your
connection "breaks." If the signal strength is fairly consistent, it's not a wireless
issue.

2) if you're doing heavy torrenting, likely the gear is simply getting overloaded.
May want to check out smallnetbuilder.net's graphs and look for a router with a higher
max simultaneous connections count.

Regards

Here is something new.. i found out it does not need to be a torrent client running.. I'm trying to download BF3 on origin now and it keeps dropping the connection every so often. And wait for the router to reboot then same over and over again.

Based on the testing and results posted, you need a new router.

What speed is your internet package rated for?

I agree with billaustin and see about getting into the market for a new router.
