 | Promotional Offer Extention Yesterday I received a letter from Cablevision informing me that they have extended my promotional offer. I have all services (TV, Internet & Phone)
Last year I had to call and ask so this was a nice surprise.

 | reply to Sprinkle Head Interesting.
I was motivated by this to call to see what I could get for a promotional plan. I figure that since I live in a FIOS area I should be able to get something.
After a bit of wrangling the offer was 135 for two boxes, Boost Plus and IO Gold for a year.
I wonder if I did well or not? |
|
 | I think that's good. I don't have IO Gold or boost plus but I pay less. |
|
 | Is Fios available at your address? |

I wonder if I did well or not? That's good, I could only get my parents 2 cable cards, regular boost and IO gold for 149 for a year. |

 | reply to aannoonn Yes, FIOS is available where I live. |
|
 | reply to Sprinkle Head I received the same letter. My current promotion was set to expire March, 2012 and was extended through August.
I must admit I'm skeptical - since when has Cablevision EVER given us something for nothing? I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop!
About a month ago, FiOS was going door-to-door in my neighborhood. I actually listened to them this time with an eye toward making the switch. Two things stand in my way: The first is email. I dread the thought of having to change everything. The second is the convenience of having free wi-fi which FiOS does not offer. That little perk weighs heavily in leaning toward remaining with Cablevision.
For now I'll enjoy the 6 month reprieve. But, I know there will be a battle to be fought in August. |

You might as well start with making the email switch now. Doing at your leisure is a lot less aggravating than doing it under pressure and it's one less hook CV has into your flesh.
Then you decide if the wifi is worth it without worrying about the email. |
|
 | Optimum wifi is awesome. My better half uses an iphone. Because Optimum wifi is all over the place, we have the minimum data plan that Verizon offers (300 megs a month). Everywhere in Bergen County, NJ its available. It was even available in Wildwood Crest, NJ. (They have an agreement with Comcast) |

 | reply to Daryl125 Supposedly there are things in store for the future. I heard until some of these improvements are introduced they are going to be extending some promotions. |
|
 | What improvements? |
|
 | There's improvement
Cablevision is comparing its broadband speed to FiOS's slowest tier, at 15 Mpbs download speed, and that Verizon's faster products are superior to Cablevision's.

There's improvements? Keywords Slowest Extending some promotions to try to keep subscribers....... What ever happen to 40 /45% switched back to CV commerical????? You don't see it anymore.... |

That's why you shouldn't attach email to your ISP. if you don't want to use gmail, buy your own domain and host it for free with google apps. you won't be tied to any carrier. Also CV tend to keep mailboxes alive even after you cancel. So you can slowly migrate to a neutral email provider. -- [Sig removed by Administrator: signature can not exceed 20GB] |

plenty of people leave Fios as soon as the price jumps. At this point every customer is switching to whoever is cheaper. I still see the commercial and was just told by a cablevision employee that the percentage of people returning is over 50% now. |

 | said by dontbelieve :was just told by a cablevision employee that the percentage of people returning is over 50% now. But are they still counting people who switched back to Fios a second time? Probably. Eventually the number will reach 100%, implying that there are no Fios customers in Cablevision territory, but we know that won't be true.
I'm sure they counted me as switching to Fios and back to CV, even though Fios has never been available to me. |
