Re: 16MB install experience

Does this mean that they generally won't be making new holes in the side of homes and running new wiring thorough them?

They didn't run any new wire for me. Just installed the splitter. My demarc outside is a new one installed a year or two ago when I was having internet isssues and replaced the original 1978 one.

My 16M experience started today. First I am pretty sure the first Bell Tech that was supposed to come between 12-5 never came. Then the telco tech that was supposed to come between 5-9 called my wife early and asked to come by to do his thing - she did not know that he was planning on coming in and he had no idea what he was doing. He eventually installed an ADSL/VDSL splitter but when he hooked into my existing cabling, he did a piss poor job and one of the wires was barely connected. Not being there when he did his work I had no idea what he did so it took me a while to figure that out. Once that was fixed and I could get a dial tone on the DSL line, I tried connecting via my PPPoE account. I thought that I had a new one but nobody informed me (TSI's fault I guess, they do make mistakes) that my old one was re-assigned to my account.

So far in the first 24 hours I seem to be on a 12M profile (confirmed by TSI tech support) but I will give it 24 hours to see if I can be bumped (I am told that I have a good enough line to support it). Other than a few disconnects that I will try and see how it evolves over time, it is definitely speedier...

People who use the 12 mbit in Ontario get 14 mbit sync profiles.

I get a 12Mbps sync, although I believe my line conditions may not support anything higher. YMMV.

Post-install DMT shot of my 16M/1M install. Actual download throughput a touch beyond 16.5M.
