| The River Saw 'The River' last night, and I must say I was surprised. Been a while since a television show scared the stuffing out of me. Not going to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it, but I will say the last 45 minutes were enough to cause me to sleep with my lights on.
Looking forward to the next episode of this show.
Any other thoughts? |

| reply to StumpMan just got done watching "The River".... interesting...
at first I really liked it, but after a while, the fake documentary thing started getting to me. I'll probably still keep watching though. -- Humanity - The greatest natural disaster of all time. |

It reminded me of Blair Witch Project which made me want to have a plane crash into the place I was watching it to end my pain. I can't stand that type of filming. -- Cry "Havoc!" and let slip the dogs of war |

| reply to StumpMan I watched the first two episodes online last night due to this thread (hadn't heard of it before). I really liked it; it went well beyond what network television normally does in both the gore and the scares. I was impressed and hope they don't tone it down. Good television horror is rare. |

 | reply to StumpMan I watched episodes 1 and 2 and I'm not holding out much hope for this show.
It reminds me of LOST, and that is not a good thing!
The idiots who wrote LOST failed to think of a Logical or Rational ending for that series. What they came up with was a pretty darn poor finish.
But I think it might be the same group of script monkeys from LOST since they didn't even TRY to have a logical or rational explanation for "The River" and instead just went with Ghosts and Spirits.
Either way, "The River" looks to be just more mindless dribble spewed out of Hollywood. No depth, no logic, no real plot. Just pretty lights to numb the senses. |

| reply to StumpMan I thought it was pretty good. It's one of the first shows I've seen on TV since American Horror Story to actually be creepy.
And I usually hate the documentary-style, shaky-cam method of filming, but in this show it didn't seem as bad as other things I've seen filmed the same way. -- "Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin to slit throats." - H. L. Mencken

Are you looking for a logical ending after two episodes? Or do you just think that they will fail to deliver one because Lost didn't and you won't give it a chance because of that? Either way... |
