kudos:3 | Got My New Paypal Key Well no more Black, keychain type fob rolling key device. They have gone to a credit card size, thingamobber. You press a part of the credit card and there is a small display above that apparently displays the rolling code. I say apparently because it arrived DOA. Anybody using these yet? |

Not the paypal one, but I had one like you describe back in the mid 90s for dial-up access to work. I prefer the key chain form factor, but functionality was the same. |

I have one key for HSBC (work) and I have an RSA app on my iphone for Citrix (work) - I love the app much much better.
I am thinking of getting one for paypal - I use it a lot and more security doesn't hurt! |

You can get text messages in lieu of the key card...'cept I tried and for some reason not receiving anything - wondering if Rogers has some kind of 'spam' type of sms filter? |

Probably because they aren't being paid to have those messages delivered. Remember Rogers wants to be come a Schedule A bank, and Paypal is a competitor.
Does it break network neutrality rules? Perhaps, but you'll never be able to prove it. After getting slapped wrt to the throttling of WoW games, they'll be a lot more careful.

I've got one... A yellow card with digits in the top right corner. It can be a bit awkward to use, instead of 'pressing' on the top of the card like the printed word says, use your thumb and forefinger to squeeze (from the front and back) the area where it says 'press' for a couple seconds. It takes about 3 seconds before the display will change.

Too funny Savant, I called and said the first one did not work so they shipped me a new one. I have a second one that arrived today (diff account) and discovered your trick thinking what are the chances two in a row and tried the squeeze thing. Egads I am going to have to finger pushups. I dont mind about replacing the first one as its way worse than the second one I received (practically need a set of pliers). The advantage of this card, is that its needed most if traveling and its a better form factor.

kudos:3 | Most useful thing I have for the internet. It started when I realized I needed a way to pay for accommodations on a planned trip to Europe. I found this great loft in downtown Barcelona and the downpayment was required via paypal. I liked the fact that Ididnt have to give a complete stranger my CC information. Then I started a hobby business and havent looked back. Of course like any other service they tend to nickle and dime you to death but thats how our capitalistic democracy works. I find paypal more secure than my online banking, although Im sure the bank and CC security background software is very sophisticated. EFFF ebay thats a ripoff

Tis funny - in Canada - I use Interac email money transfers for almost everyone I deal with - the fees are small and fixed, it is pretty fast (usu. under 20 mins) and the money comes out of one account instantly and goes in the other account instantly.
Dealing with Americans, and Euro-Asia I use PayPal for pretty much everything. I still have my old classic 59 pickup truck stored at a relatives house down in the US - my car insurance company down there for that vehicle even takes payments via PayPal (Progressive.com). Can say with certainty that I have had better luck and history with PayPal than any other on-line financial institution I have ever worked with. I should probably get one of these secure cards... will have to think about it. |

Also you can use it to transfer money online to other paypal members if you are buying or making a deposit to hold something on Kijiji or craigs unless they are in Nigeria of course. |
