 TreebarkPremium join:2010-03-04 Havelock, NC kudos:1 | Key Binding I have been a long time dps clicker besides my hunter. A long time click tanker. Memorizing where the buttons are, is trick for me. I have been a long time keybinder when it comes to heals, mainly because I use 1-7 and my f keys which are reachable.
I was tanking on an alt last night and decided to try to change it up a little bit. I usually rest my wrist/hand on my keyboard. I decided to actually play with my hand in the air and mash keys and use nothing but my mouse to move and turn. I found that with some practice this could be a lot easier and would be able to place more binds on the keyboard when I run out of my numbers. I am trying to get away from clicking all together.
edit, I have a;so never used assist macros when it comes to dps. What's the best way to do this?
Also having my wrist/bottom of my palm resting on my laptop creates a mean callous and can get painful after a few hours of playing. Anyone else have similar problems or play with their hand not resting on something?? |

1 edit | As for assist macros, I tend to mentally group abilities in a rotation, depending on class. There are certain things I want to build up on a "new target"... 3 or 4 abilities I want to do "first". I like to pick one of those abilities and add a /assist focus command.
maybe for your ranged dps do something like this...
#showtooltip whateverstarterability /target [mod:shift @focustarget,harm,exists] whateverstarterability /cast [nomod] whateverstarterability
and melee could simplify it a bit with...
#showtooltip whateverstarterability /assist [mod:shift] focus /cast [nomod] whateverstarterability
the thought here being that since you are melee, using /assist (with proper interface setting activated) you can start your auto attack for the second it takes to fire off your first special attack. Not always a good idea to implement for say, a hunter, if the fight hasn't started yet.

 | reply to Treebark I can't use my laptops keyboard. It gets way too hot after a few minutes of play. I instead use a Nostromo52. Makes life much easier for me. Maybe an external keyboard is the answer for your woes?
Also I know you asked for assist macro's but as a tank/melee character I have start attack macros for most of my major abilities. Keeps you from just standing there if you tab target.
#showtooltip Crusader Strike
/startattack
/cast Crusader Strike
/script UIErrorsFrame:Clear()

If i have to be gnat's ass about it the KB turn. If i can blow and go I am mousing it. Click verses Keybind/Macro changes but when i am non raiding like quest or gathering i click. When shit gets real then i use all my KB and macros. |

You don't need the /script line in that macro. Only time you really need that error clear script is when you have an ability and "on use" trinket linked together (i.e. /cast Crusader Strike /use 14) -- I'm not loafing. I work so fast I'm always finished. If idiots could fly, this would be an airport. |
