[Express] 8x2 Ch Bonding / IP in 72.xxx.xxx.xxx range...Folks, So I decided to try out the Cisco DPC3825 modem/gateway last week. It seems that even my "Express" service tier can make use of the channel bonding. After the "outage" last night, I noticed 2 changes: 1. The IP address has become 72.xxx.xxx.xxx, which I have not seen for years (with the 99.xxx.xxx.xxx addresses). 2. The channel bonding has become 8x2 (it had been 4x1 for the past week)... |

Channel bonding is independent of your package. It's just how the cable system is set up on your local node.
What most likely happened is your node got split, which is a good thing to relieve congestion.
Your signal levels look excellent. |

HiVolt,
So other subscribers in the same node, as long as they have got the DOCSIS 3.0 modem could have the same arrangement regardless of their service tiers? Someone has also said the older SMC could support only 4-channel bonding for the downstream, right? |

iFly55, Hi, this was the case initially with mine until yesterday. Perhaps your neighbourhood is not as congested like here (well, it has improved to a acceptable level compares to the situation 5 years ago... » [ Extreme] Mississauga City Centre: Slow downlink again ) Anyway, where about do you live? As for the modem, mine has got an older firmware (May 2011) out of the box initially with a few bugs e.g. system time, wifi drop-outs, reboots several times, etc. But, it got the current firmware (Nov 2011) in the following day. |
