***Cogeco New Firmware Update***

There was a new Firmware update today for the
Pace RNG200N- 28.44 -Software still at 78.73

The Moto 6416 is at 16.75 & Software at 78.55

I do not see anything significant in the update.
Hopefully it will resolve the freezing & sound drops, especially
on the West Coast HD feeds & the 4 US HD Superstations.

Kiro 7 CBS West HD 718 is still not in Dolby Digital 5.1 sound,
everything is in 2 channel stereo only.
Could someone from Cogeco please find another CBSW HD feed with 5.1 sound or fix the current channel??? Thank You.

Re: ***Cogeco New Firmware Update-28.79***

Another update today,28.79 I had to reboot the Pace RNG200N,
what a mistake, now my hdmi reciever defaults to PCM Dolby Pro Logic 2. They screwed something up with the HDMI sound output setting, I have mine set to Auto, I cycled through all the settings, nothing works. So again could someone at Cogeco please look into this problem?

To get Dolby Digital now I have to change inputs on my receiver from HDMI 1 to 2 & back again for every channel in order to get Dolby Digital 5.1 sound. For now I have gone back to Optical.28.44 was perfect,so here we go again. You would think they could have tested this firmware with a HDMI receiver before releasing it.

I noticed they have added a Multiroom setting.

Same issue - »[Eastern Ontario] RNG200N Issues

Is there anyway to reverse the firmware install to the older version? Is there a way to correct these issues/problems if not?

dakotaoneill,

NO. This is now in Cogeco's hands. I have already reported the
problem to Cogeco tech support & told them that Firmware 28.44 worked just fine.

While we are all waiting you have some options,

For now I have my Pace box connected to my TV directly with HDMI , I have switched to using the Optical connection to my receiver, this gives me the correct sound. Until Cogeco can fix the current firmware & roll it out, this is your best option,or just do what I said in my previous post.

I would also recommend you all call Cogeco Tech support if you
are having this problem,so we can get this resolved quickly.

The problem is that the Pace RNG200N is sending a PCM signal, that is now the default output with HDMI, it should be AC3.

You can check some of this out in the diagnostic screen.(Power off, Okay). To get to the settings screen (Power off, Settings).

KIRO7 definitely does 5.1 (I'm on Bell satellite).

I have forwarded the concerns regarding the HDMI audio output after the 28.79 Firmware update... We're looking into it.

Thanks Marcer as well. I am having the same problem. Lost Dolby Digital via HDMI and had to swap in a toslink optical cable to handle the audio. Hopefully they will be able to sort this out.

Thanks again Marcer, much appreciated.

Re: ***Cogeco New Firmware Update-28.79***

I have connected my Optical cable to my receiver but am still getting PCM signal not the AC3. (doesn't give me 5.1 either, do you have to enable the Optical output on the cable box?)

Try selecting Optical on your Receiver. Your receiver may not automatically pick up that it is to use the optical cable over the HDMI cable.

As i posted in another thread i am having similar issues through my denon reciever, i get no sound or picture after changing from another input back to the pvr, i have to power the pvr off and then on, then it works but is much choppier than before the firmware update.

I too have the exact same problem as "grog"
It really sucks when the PVR is already recording something and i come to watch TV. The PVR is already on recording, but if I turn on my receiver I will not get a feed as my receiver has to be on first, before the PVR. So I have to blindly turn off the PVR (select OK to turn off as it is in the middle of recording) then quickly power on and start recording again.
Really annoying.

That's one of the reasons I switched to a Harmony remote control....

I'm always assured that the receiver is on and set to the correct input before the PVR is activated. Works like a charm.

Love my Harmony One. One of the [many] reasons I left Cogeco cable TV - the 6200 I had shared the power toggle code with my PBO. Total PITA.

Re: ***Cogeco New Firmware Update***

I had a technician come today as I've been having issues with Sportsnet Ontario and LeafsTV.

Turns out it's an issue with Pace and channels that are switched digital. He mentioned that the customer after me had the same problem and that they gathering information to help find a software fix. Apparently this issue has been resolved with all the other Pace receivers except the DCT2500.

I have the Pace 777 unit and occasionally have trouble with the switched digital channels. The problems tend to go away by themselves, but only after some annoyingly long periods of inactivity that (unfortunately) have resulted in lost or interrupted recordings
