 | reply to xrayman Most of the time I can get higher speeds on a local server, but the ping times are lower on the Chicago servers. Higher ping times can be an indication of a loaded system or could indicate a longer more complex routing path.

Real World Latency Speed Test Since most webpages average 1mb in size, I wanted a way to benchmark real world page loads rather than for total capacity. Capacity is important, more so on larger transfers.
Found FireBug very informative for a real world latency speed test.
Turned off: no script, flash block, and ad block plus. Cleared cache. Restarted browser. Nothing else running in back ground, single computer.

Vix join:2001-12-30 Altamonte Springs, FL | reply to xrayman Just hooked up with Clear this week for an extended (several months) trip to Florida. Unfortunately I'm short of options for "broadband" service, with my options being Clear or the severely overloaded hotel wifi connection.
What really surprised me was that this new account, for which I pay $50 a month, include NO email account. NONE

Guess I won't be seeing the below speed downloads til I return home at the end of summer/fall. (Literally 100 times faster than clear)
