GuspazGuspazPremium,MVM join:2001-11-05 Montreal, QC kudos:16 | CapSavvy v3.1.0 released This update adds support for TekSavvy's new peak/off-peak system. Thanks to Darryl Tam for his work on this version.
For those that are unaware, capsavvy is a usage checker that displays your TekSavvy bandwidth usage in the system tray, along with an estimate of how much bandwidth you will use this month. It also works for TekSavvy resellers (or rather, it did when it used pppoe.ca, not sure about this version). It currently only works for TekSavvy DSL, although I plan to eventually add suppor for TekSavvy Quebec cable, since there's a usage checker for that.
Since capsavvy is opensource under the GPL since last release, the download here includes both the binary and the source. capsavvy v3.1.0 targets the .NET 3.5 client framework, and should hopefully run on Windows 7 without installing anything. -- Developer: Tomato/MLPPP, Linux/MLPPP, etc »fixppp.org |

The math used to calculate the off peak numbers needs to be checked. |

|
 | reply to Guspaz Norton Internet Security won't let me run it. It keeps deleting the .exe file on me. Yet the zip file is scanned as ok. NIS drives me nuts. I know it's safe. |

| reply to Guspaz Had the same problem. Go to quarentine through Norton and find the file, High lite it and then tell norton to restore and trust the file. -- If my online experience is enhanced, why are my speeds throttled?? BHell... A Public Futility. |

Odd, I can't reproduce that behaviour (there's no math involved in the peak/offpeak calculations, only the estimated usage). | reply to Guspaz Is there a feature to extract that stats? I may want to track and graph my month to month usage going forward with peak/off-peak system. |
|
GuspazGuspazPremium,MVM join:2001-11-05 Montreal, QC kudos:16 | reply to Guspaz CapSavvy CLI used to do that. It was a PHP shell script that spit out the raw numbers. But it hasn't been updated in ages, since several format changes, so it hasn't worked in ages.
That said, doing a munin graph wouldn't be that hard, because writing a shell script that pulls out the data with wget and grep/awk/etc would be very easy. -- Developer: Tomato/MLPPP, Linux/MLPPP, etc »fixppp.org |

 | reply to Guspaz Very cool, thank you.
If I keep it running in my systray, does it poll for new stats every so often? |
|
GuspazGuspazPremium,MVM join:2001-11-05 Montreal, QC kudos:16 | reply to Guspaz It'll poll for new stats every 30 minutes, although TekSavvy currently only seems to update their stats every 24 hours...
At one point, they were updating them as often as every 6 hours, IIRC. Hopefully we'll get more granular updates again in the future. -- Developer: Tomato/MLPPP, Linux/MLPPP, etc »fixppp.org |

 | reply to Guspaz will this be able to see bandwidth usage on an entire network of computers or just the one its installed on? |
|
 GuspazGuspazPremium,MVM join:2001-11-05 Montreal, QC kudos:16 | It's for a given TekSavvy account. It's polling the data from TekSavvy, it doesn't measure anything by itself. -- Developer: Tomato/MLPPP, Linux/MLPPP, etc »fixppp.org |

1 edit | reply to Guspaz Would anyone be interested in porting it for us Teksavvy Cable users? I presume it just wouldn't work, right, it's strictly a DSL thing? |
