And it is awesome for a mid range gaming pc. I know HP and gaming might not go together for many. This is a new line of computers they have brought out just recently. I have yet to see a review for them. They been out about a month but evidently just recently started shipping. But, for what I got build wise. Not sure if I could have done better. I ordered mine on release day January 8th. It got delayed twice from a part "constraints" issue. Just received it on Feb. 1st. Have been putting it through the ringer for a few days. HP gave me a $30 dollar credit on the first delay. And on the second. Gave me 10% off the custom ordered pc. I got it for $1,033.99 shipped. First time I have also ever used or had a ssd. It came with a Intel 320 160gb ssd. I also done a clean install with only the drivers and windows updates. Gotta love the 10 second boot time with the ssd! I almost decided to cancel the order. I was interested in the Alienware X51. Decided against it though since it did not come with a ssd and bigger psu. HP also had the better warranty. 2 years instead of 1 with the Alienware. My new pc came with a 550 Ti. But, I took that out right away and popped in my Evga Superclocked GTX 560 from my previous system. And put the new 550 Ti in my old system.

Upon ordering. The system automatically comes with a 600w psu. They even let you select a GTX 580 for a video card. So, I will be able to upgrade later on as well. Specs and pictures!

HP Pavilion HPE h9t customizable Desktop PC

• Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium [64-bit]
• 2nd Generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600 processor [3.4GHz, 8MB Shared Cache]
• 8GB DDR3-1333MHz SDRAM [2 DIMMs]
• 160GB solid state drive
• 500GB 7200 rpm SATA hard drive
• No additional office software
• SAVE $20 on Norton Internet Security(TM) 2012 - 15 month
• 1GB DDR5 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti [2 DVI, mini-HDMI. VGA adapter]
• Air Cooling Solution
• SuperMulti DVD Burner
• Integrated Ethernet port, No wireless LAN
• 15-in-1 memory card reader, 4 x USB 2.0 (front), 2 x USB 3.0 (top)
• No TV Tuner
• Beats Audio (tm) -- integrated studio quality sound
• Premium HP keyboard and optical mouse

Also wanted to note. The wires are not close to touching at all or in the way. The picture just looks deceiving. The system is also extremely quiet. I also like the little clear cut out window.

You got hosed. But you probably knew that since you were buying a vendor pre-built.

About $500 off list -- not bad. Good CPU & graphics. Is it still quiet under load?

I wouldnt go so far to say he got hosed. Yes he paid a small premium, but it also involved no work and return it if it breaks. Great system!

Interesting,......

Not bad,.......

When you mentioned delays I though you went for a new Sandy Bridge-E based system. Apparently Intel has a problem keeping the Core i7 3930K in stock. You also don't see any Core i7 3820 parts in retail channels yet. However, the HP Pavilion HPE h8qe comes with a stock Core i7 3820 LGA2011 CPU and HP claims it will ship right away. I didn't even know they were out yet,.... The base or suggested configuration comes to about ~$1099 but that is with an HD 7570 video subsystem.

Might not have mattered though since you already had GTX560ti,....

BTW, that new HP case isn't that different from their standard cases. The CPU looks like its using stock cooling (or near stock) which is probably OK but might benefit some from a modest upgrade,.....

I don't think that computer is worth the price you paid for it. You seem to know enough about hardware to build your own PC. They are better.

Well I am going to have to say you did not do REALLY bad...

Sure you have lower end stuff with less warranty than custom built but still... I guess it worked... you kinda cheated swapping vid cards and all but...

Also as far as games you only needed an i5 that i7 nets you nothing in games.

well, it's a prebuilt and I wonder at the quality of some of the components.

Meh you'd be surprised, some of the higher end and gaming pc's are actually nice builds with great components. Hell some are even doing water cool setups.

I would never bash someone for buying a pc vs building, some people just dont have the know how or don't feel 100% comfortable to do so on their own which is perfectly reasonable. $1000 dollars for a higher end PREBUILT pc IMHO isnt bad especially for not having to worry about any of the technical aspects of it. Its an I7 plenty of memory, even an ssd.

I just like to point out a few things.
1) How is water cooling a sign of quality or were you just pointing out the fact they would stick a h50 in the system?
2) Do you know that ssds can be slow, unless we get a model of the ssd it may be just a hair faster (r/w speed) than a normal HDD...
3) The memory mentioned retails for like $30. Hardly something to write home about

Very quiet under load and runs BF3 very smooth at all "high" settings. 1080p on my 23" led hp monitor. Custom build wise with my own. What was turning me off was the hard drive prices at the time. Looks like they are still pretty high. I did not want a 120/128gb ssd. I thought it was a little small. I actually wanted a 256gb ssd. But the price is wow! So, I settled for a happy medium with 160gb ssd. Warranty wise. I like the options. HP gives you 3 choices. In home service, you send it in or repair it yourself. They will ship you the part/parts and you send back the defective ones. They also pay for shipping to and from. I like to buy a new system every 2-3 years. This one should last me for 3. I also would imagine. Its going to be upgrade friendly to Windows 8. HP had one of these machines running Windows 8 at the recent ces. Getting more back to the pc. Maybe I did get ripped off. But, I seriously shopped and shopped pre-built and with my own parts. I could not get to a 1k build with the kinda parts in this new one. I really cant say enough about this machine if anyone is in the market. And you are not into oc like myself. Its a very nice pc. My only complaint is HP pricing for new customers now. The ssd is not standard now on this particular model. It is a $300 dollar option alone now just for that.

The 550 Ti that came with it. It was only a $69 option. I don't think you can get a new 550 Ti any where for only $69. That is why I jumped on it and put it in my older system. With the internals picture. You guys cannot see it. But, the power supply. Under it has a bunch of round holes and a big fan. Actually I have a picture of it and for got to post it!

Just curious, what PSU came with it?

It looks like they put the stock push-pin Intel fan/heatsink on the CPU. For longevity's sake, you should consider subbing it for a better, but low cost, HSF cooling solution, like the CM Hyper 212+. However if the mobo tray doesn't have a cut-out, that might be difficult.

Temps.
It came with a 600w Delta Electronics psu. I know they build for many clients. Including Antec. I am thinking the stock hsf should work pretty well. Considering I cannot oc the machine any ways?

For what its worth, a BBR member was pointing out to me just the other day that Newegg had a 240GB OCZ Agility 3 going for $295.99 with a 20 MIR and a $30 gift card equating to about ~245. I was seriously considering it but I recently bought a 240GB SSD for ~$200 after MIR,.....

Personally, I’ve been interested in buying an Intel Core i7 3930K Sandy Bridge-E based system. Availability is fairly slim now and I wanted the C2 stepping but since I have all the parts I need (and then some) other then the CPU and motherboard, the entire build would only cost me about ~$900 (Core i7 3930K CPU and Asus P9X79 Pro motherboard). If I waited for Ivy Bridge I estimate a Core i7 3770 based system (CPU + motherboard) would be about ~$500 (possibly less if I use an older P67 or Z68 motherboard).

Looks quite decent.

That Intel 320 SSD is pretty good but likely doesn't carry the Intel warranty (which is 5 years). Still, 2 years isn't horrible.

The points I don't like about it are really what I don't like about OEM systems in general: case design, cooling, motherboard limitations (which I'm speculating on in this situation), and perhaps the PSU.

At around $1000 shipped, it's pretty good for what you got! If you bought everything separately?

Windows 7... approx $99
i7-2600... $300
8GB DDR3-1333... $30
Intel 320 160GB... $280
500GB WD blue... $90
GeForce GTX 550 Ti... $130
DVD burner... $25
internal card reader... $15
600W PSU (compare with Corsair builder series)... $60
case (substitute Antec 300 gamer series, etc)... $60
motherboard... $100-ish (on the cheaper end)

this all adds up to $1189.

The real question is what you could do differently, if you obsessed over each part separately. Maybe get the i5-2500k instead? Maybe get slightly faster RAM? Maybe get the cheaper Intel 320 120GB version? Maybe a blue ray drive? skip the card reader? better/different case? better-featured motherboard?

HP can sell to you at this price and make profit because they didn't pay anywhere near these prices for parts, partly because of bulk purchasing power and partly because they take responsibility for warranty onto themselves. Even with Windows, they are responsible for support, not MS... so they pay far less to MS than you do buying retail.

Oh yeah!

What's comparable to "Premium HP"? Well, no matter... there are tons of Logitech/etc combos for about $20-$25.
