lmacmil join:2001-01-26 South Bend, IN | Laptop battery voltage question My 5 year old Toshiba laptop battery is on its last legs. A charge lasts only about 50 min. On the Toshiba site, the specs indicate 11.1v and 4400mAh. Most of the aftermarket units are 10.8v with the same mAh rating. Am I correct in assuming the voltage difference is inconsequential? |

If everything is truthful on the battery 10.8 and 11.1 should be the same 3 cell battery (at 3.6 to 3.7V) just different rounding was used. |

matt5 join:2001-10-06 Lagrangeville, NY | I do not know what battery you are looking at exactly.
I got a new cell phone, I will tell you what it says. Phone made in china Battery made in china Cell made in japan.
Now you know they are going to try to go the cheapest route... why it the cell made in japan not china?
I am not telling you to get a $90 battery from toshiba I am saying to maybe look for a higher quality battery. What is the point of spending $25 and getting no real life out of it?
Maybe someone else who has bought cheap laptop batteries can chime in, I have not. I just know if companies will make everything BUT the battery cell in china... idk if I would want cells made in china. |

lmacmil join:2001-01-26 South Bend, IN | It's a Satellite A135-S4527. The replacement on the Toshiba site is $90 and has 1 review which got 1 star. I think the p/n is PA3465U-1BAS. I guess one has to take a chance with an Ebay supplier since they all claim their batteries are great. I'm not willing to spend $90 on a replacement so I'll either try one of the cheap ones or just keep the charger plugged in all the time. |

| OEM batteries are usually way-way overpriced. I worked for a well known company a while ago, and the batteries that sold for almost $50 in stores were about $5 (!!) internally.
Personally, I bought a replacement battery from eBay for a Dell laptop, and it works just fine. -- Wacky Races 2012! |

| reply to lmacmil Those two voltages ARE very close. But if the amperes is significantly different (lower) it could be an issue.
The output voltage will experience a voltage drop from loading and from terminations and circuitry, things they try do design for. The greater the load, the greater the voltage drop. Just a tidbit to know, not that you need to be concerned with it.
Just be certain that:
Polarity is correct!!!
Charging circuitry is compatible - guaranteed.
Quality is decent.
