| What speed offerings are coming?? Hi -
I have been waiting for a while to get broadband where I live. Finally, after 3 years here, Windstream says that broadband will be available by the end of the 3rd quarter. My question is, what speeds will be available? Obviously, I'm currently too far from the CO for it so I wonder if they'll be putting in a substation/CO somewhere closer to my house. I'm hoping to get faster offering than their current slowest around here (3MB) but if they're not putting in another substation or CO, am I to assume that it's only going to be 3? I've asked Windstream and they can't tell me what speeds will be offered. Is there any way for me to find out that you guys know of?
I was VERY close to setting up my own PTP connection using Ubiquiti Networks Nanobridges. My intent was to pay for an internet drop in the town near me and then beam it to my house. However, the cost was going to be over a thousand due to a solar installation having to be made at one of the points. Now that I know we'll be getting service later this year...I've put that on hold. The internet drop I was looking at was going to be their fastest in that town near me (12MB) and if all I can look at getting is 3...then I'll go ahead and set it up.
