 | info Anveo infrastructure supports both; DNS_SRV and hostname with port. You can use any of them. They just wrote me.
Last night support told me I could enable DNS SRV, change the address from anveo.sip.com to anveo.com AND leave the port field empty. Seems hard to believe but Im just sharing all I know. |

1 edit | So now Anveo has automatic geographic failover, at the carrier level, and all the way to an ATA or IP phone, no PBX required. I always thought VoIP.ms or Callcentric would be the first PAYG provider to do that!
Congratulations, Anveo. With this setup, it should be easily possible to achieve a level of reliability far better than any end user's internet connection.

 | How does Anveo's geographic failover work? Is it just the SRV record pointing to multiple servers? |

| Anveo's carrier sends a SIP Ping to their PoPs every minute. In the event of a failure, the carrier routes calls to a different PoP. If your device supports DNS SRV, it will automatically register to another server. Outgoing calls should work properly immediately; incoming calls will work in either up to one minute, or the length of time it takes your device to re-register, whichever is greater.
In other words, it's unlikely you'll notice a problem unless you're in the middle of call at the exact moment a PoP has an issue.
Does anyone know if a Linksys device will re-register to the next PoP in the list if KeepAlive fails, or does it wait for the next registration?
