I have been using Flight Sim since 5.1CD.
With every version you get the entire globe and it just got better and better.
Now, M$ wants to nickel and dime me to death selling me individual areas of the world?
I got the Beta and it is very nice.
But just Hawaii.
No thanks.
FSX still has a lot of life left for me.
I think this move will be the real death knell for Flight Sim.
What a shame.

Remember when CS/TFC, among other full games were mods that was given away for free?
FF to today where people now pay for maps for BF3.

It really depends on the pricing...I mean really, in all the MS Flights I have purchased going back to the original, there were parts of the world you never went to as there wasn't much to see.
I am curious about how much flexibility there will be to customize/mod the program - I loved using freeware planes, airports (like LGA in NY and a few in Japan/China) and using/importing real-world flight schedules and airlines.

Yeah I've been playing since flight Sim 95 and we have been very vocal about it on flightsim.com (member since '98) a lot of us don't have much hopes for this which is sad.. |

Yeah, I think MS has made a misstep here. People like me and other FS enthusiasts are not the 'I will buy and buy and buy' type of gamers. Prediction: This will bit them.
If the typical fan-base of FS is anything like me, and I think they are, this will fail.
The only hope for me in adopting this new version will be if I can torrent the add-ons 'cause I damn sure ain't paying MS more than 70 or 80 bux for the whole McGilla.

good to know i'm not the only one to notice ms flight being released, even if it's stripped down to a couple planes and a small piece of land...

Long Island | just downloaded it yesterday...not really impressive. The graphics seem no better and it is hard to tell how much interaction you will have as the starter planes are so limited.
