Re: Say goodbye to ClearQAM Yes, right now Comcast must still abide by the 1996 FCC rule that requires them to provide the digital basic-tier channels in "Clear QAM," so that most recent TVs can receive them with their QAM tuners.
However, the FCC has recently proposed, at the urging of the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA), to eliminate this requirement (the subject of this thread):
