chogo join:2011-05-19 Ottawa | [Cable] How is overage calc'd for the Basic Cable 3 (25GB) plan? I called in and talked to an agent who said that if you go over the 2 month capacity limit of 50GB then you would be charged at the unlimited rate for the following month which is a $16 increase!
This seems rather excessive as the similar High Speed DSL 2 (25GB) plan has only a $5 max overage fee (or at least it did when the new pricing PDF was still available).
I'm wondering why they wouldn't charge you the Lite Cable 3 (300GB) plan rate as it is only $6 more than the Basic Cable 3 plan and would seem more in line as to how the same capacity DSL plan is treated?
The lack of clearly communicated information is extremely annoying! |

 | Re: [Cable] How is overage calc'd for the Basic Cable 3 (25GB) p I'd like to know this as well. |
|
 | Considering the trend in that PDF, it's fairly likely that you'd pay the price of the least expensive next plan up. |
|
 | reply to chogo I called and asked. Was told it will be charged 25c/GB for overage up to 300 GB. Then if you exceed 300Gb, you will be charged for unlimited plan. And it will calculated and charged monthly. SO if you use 299GB, you will pay $68.50. If you use 301GB, it would be $16 for unlimited plan. |
|
 | I would phone again, or post in the direct forum, and see if you get the same answer.
Honestly! |

chogo join:2011-05-19 Ottawa | reply to chogo Well, I just posted this query in the Direct forum and received this response from TSI_Chad:
Hey there,
As per my manager TSI_Rick:
For DSL and rCable:
If the 2 month average is > their monthly cap then the client will be charged Unlimited rate for that month (There is no more 25cents/50cents/etc)
Kind of ridiculous especially since there is currently no way to check your usage. |

|
 | reply to chogo There is nothing on the pricing.pdf regarding basic cable. Being charged $16 for going 1GB over 25Gb is beyond ridiculous!
Since when did TSI become like fido where you have to call in 6 times to get the correct answer? |

Re: [Cable] How is overage calc'd for the Basic Cable 3 (25GB) p Martin, while you're getting clarification, check my idea on page 4 through 6. It eliminates the unfair "surcharge" for the 1GB example.

 | reply to TSI Martin How about 50 cents/GB for overage charges just like before?
The 2 months rolling average for overage is uncalled for and it seemed to be doing so against the customers will. It raised even more questions to the new internet pricings. Example: (Any change of service fee? Is the switch to unlimited permanent? What if you want to go back to your original tier? Etc.) |

 | reply to JonyBelGeul Teksavvy says DSL only for the unlimited usage off-peak period because they don't think they'll be able to distinguish peak vs. off peak usage on cable. On DSL they know how to do it. |

 | reply to TSI Martin An update would be appreciated. |
