 | IP Phone + Outbound GV calls? I've been using Callcentric for my home phone service with a Yealink SIP-T22P IP phone. To save money, for many outbound calls I've been using the Google Voice web page to cause GV to ring my CC # and create a free call to the outbound #. This works well, but is not as straightforward as dialing from the Yealink would be.
The Yealink has 3 lines, only one of which I am using.
Is it possible to interface a current or future OBi device to the Yealink so I can make free outbound calls via GV, while preserving the option to make them via CC and of course receiving incoming CC calls? Or achieve the same result by any other relatively simple means (e.g. no Asterisk)?
I know this is possible with an analog phone connected to an OBi, but what about with an IP phone?
Also, did OBi ever fix the jitter buffer problem that caused noticeable audio lag?
Thanks. |

| reply to userofdsl I've done this using PBXes; my IP phone's line 1 is my main VoIP.ms account, and line 2 is my PBXes extension. Add a GV trunk to PBXes and you're done (you do need a Soho account at $4.95/mo or cheaper if you pay yearly) - it works great!
Once you get a paid PBXes account, you can setup lots of trunks for a lot more flexibility down the road if you choose. |

Probably overkill for most, but the Nerdvittles website explains how to download and install a "PBX in a Flash" .iso on just about any old computer (free) and how to create Google Voice trunks that you can use with an IP phone like your Yealink. I accomplish the same thing using an iPod Touch with a SIP client; gives me a wireless IP phone-equivalent that I can use to place calls via GV from my PBX no differently than if it were a cordless phone and AT&T... |
