Sex in police car costs RCMP officer 10 days pay

Exactly how much is two weeks pay for a Mountie these days? Five grand?

Sex in police car costs RCMP officer 10 days pay

A B.C. RCMP officer has been docked 10 days pay for having sex with a subordinate in a police patrol car two years ago.

In handing down the decision against Staff Sgt. Travis Pearson Thursday, an RCMP disciplinary board said the penalty would have been more severe if the investigating officer had charged him with abuse of authority.

The board said that Pearson would then have been demoted to corporal.

Instead, Pearson was disciplined for using police equipment, namely his RCMP vehicle and Blackberry cellphone, to carry on a sexual affair. The board said Pearson used his police cellphone to send sexual messages to Const. Susan Gastaldo.

Pearson admitted to having an affair with Gastaldo that included on the job sex while he was her boss.

Gastaldo alleged in August 2009 that Pearson used his position of authority to coerce her, but the disciplinary panel ruled the sex was consensual.

The same reason that the disciplinary panel rules that having sex with a subordinate was consensual and not worthy of action: they close ranks when one of their own (male) officers is under investigation.

If the rest of us did that at work we'd be fired for sure.

Are you sure, office affairs occur how often and I doubt many of them end in much of any disciplinary action.

There's a difference between boinking your secretary in a motel for a nooner and boinking her on your office desk during business hours. Besides, if you're stupid enough to boink a subordinate from work you'd better be ready to expect a lawsuit when things go sour.

The cop sergeant was in a position of public and professional trust and doing it on the taxpayer's dime. There's so much wrong with this story I really don't know where to begin.

Yes but Link Logger is from Alberta where morals are skewed........... Either that or he feels cheated never having had an office affair and desperately wants one, or he feels enormous guilt for a past office tryst with a sub-ordinate and is suffering from post traumatic slamming syndrome.

Are you kidding I have a mattress on my desk at work with handles stitched in for those lunch time stress breaks (that is why I have a couple of secretaries, like every successful executive in Alberta). Its all we do in Alberta, produce oil, roll in cash and office quickies all day, no wonder I'm exhausted at the end of the day

How many office affairs have you seen over the years and how many ended with people getting fired? I've fired guys for sexual harassment, but because two employees had a consensual and discreet urge to merge, good luck firing someone for that. Certainly I can suggest problems with the optics of such a relationship, but unless it interferes with their work performance or the bottom line of the company its really none of my business.

How many US presidents have had 'side' action with interns etc, and how many Presidents were fired because it?

An office affair and nailing someone on my desk is quite different.

By "using police equipment" I suspect they are refering to the blackberries that were used to exchange porn SMS ?

Or does the RCMP consider the female officer to be "equipment" ?

If they had wanted to make the story better, the police should have send the guy the bill for replacement of the car's shock absorbers which were ruined by his sexual exploits

Closed door meeting and I can barge in because I think they are doing the nasty, you must work for the office police or something. I trust my people to be professional, and work hard, but I'm not kicking in doors to check on what they are doing unless I have a hell of a cause.

I've seen what out of control office romances can do to a company and its employees, so there are other ways to minimize those effects then having the office police roam the hallways.

officers where there is clear video evidence they beat someone up, get assigned to a desk job, not fired or suspended without pay......so what's the big deal about this one, it was consensual, they did not kill anyone, and no one died on their clock....

Yeah, but in an office, the rest of the staff can applaud loudly when they had finished the deed

The cops were probaby in a provate setting with the car in some field, away from everyone else.

On the other hand, if they turned their police radio to "transmit" so that all other cops in the region could listen in....

(ok, so accuse me of being a fan of American Pie type of movies)

Again, police officers are held to higher standards than us low life slugs in the private sector. When was the last time you had to swear an oath of official duties and loyalty to the queen to sell pizza ovens to restaurants? This is a position of public trust we are talking about here. Police forces like the military have strict rules about fraternization between the ranks. And to compound the damage, they performed the act while on the taxpayer's clock and in an official police vehicle.

If you can't see the difference between this and a couple of fast food workers going at it hot and heavy in the freezer you need to get out more. And frankly, even McDonalds would fire them on the spot if they were bumping uglies on the premises during working hours.

Hygiene issues would make such cardio vascular quickies in a restaurant a real problem.

Two adults doing it in the backseat of a cop car doesn't have hygiene issues.

Get it straight! They were ON THE JOB! WE DON'T PAY PEOPLE TAX MONEY TO F*CK IN THIS COUNTRY...

And he was her direct superior in the force so the "consensual" arguments are on very shaky ground to begin with.

If they plan to start paying me to get my ashes hauled then please tell me where to line up to pick up my check
