TekCap v1.2.0

TekCap.gadget.zip 13,489 bytes
While I appreciate the effort that Guspaz has put into CapSavvy, I wanted something that'd be constantly displayed on screen. So I whipped up a Gadget to handle that. All credit goes to Guspaz for the regex used.

It's pretty basic at the moment, but the constant display is your total Peak (and therefore paid for) bandwidth. Clicking on the gadget will display all the same info you'd get from the Teksavvy webpage, as well as a projected Peak total for the month. I've only tested it on Windows 7, but from my understanding, it should also work with Vista. XP users, well, sorry, you're out of luck.

Unfortunately, uploading to dslreports seems to force it to have a .zip file extension, so you'll need to remove that in order to use it as a Gadget (filename should be "TekCap.gadget"). Alternately, you can download it here:

Very well done. I'm not going to bother posting my update... You had the same idea as myself but implemented it faster :P

(PM me and I'll send ya a little something for your efforts)

Thanks. Pretty cool.

Would be neat when/if they have the cable usage meter to be able to display both...

Re: TekCap v1.1.0

I did some tinkering with various things:

Projection was using the wrong month - fixed.
Added colour schemes.
Added projection cap warning (when projection cap is exceeded, colour scheme will be overridden and displayed as "white").
Added ability to set projection cap (defaults to 290, to give some "wiggle room").
Added last updated display - this will display the amount of time since your data has changed. Checks are made every hour. This will help ensure that the bandwidth usage page is updating properly.

It looks nice now all you need to do is figure in a calculator so you can hit a button when you get an alert to when your billing cycle is due and have a close guestimate of what you'd be expected to pay up factoring in HST or QST as well it'd just be a convenience feature

I thought somebody already did a desktop widget version, or was that only for OS X? In any event, even if they did, that was ages ago and it wouldn't work anymore :P

There was a link to a MacOS one in the faq, but it hasn't been updated this year (that I could tell), so yeah, would be out of date.

Well, and wouldn't work in Windows 7 or Vista either, but that's a separate point.

Looks good. Can you add the estimated peak to always display below the actual peak?
