[XP] Asus n56u + Cnet CNAD804NF

Hey, this is my goto forum for anything networking related

So here's some info before the problem. Because of a specific application needing ridiculous ethernet speed, I had to get Asus N56U (gigabit ethernet) and 3xgigabit ethernet nics. As you may already know, this router is only router and not a modem, so I had to tweak the existing full fledged router/modem Cnet CNAD804NF into bridged mode. I wasn't sure how thou, while leaving all isp side configs the same(username, vpi, etc), I just disabled its DHCP, set bridged to enable, select ppoe bridge then save and reboot. Then Asus n56u did recognize the connection. The adsl speed was 1024 but recently I've changed it to 8mbps, and here's the problem: The modem shows 8192/800 speeds but Asus shows only 1300 uplink bandwidth, thus internet speed didn't improve much. I will update Asus' firmware soon but I wonder if this could be anything else ?

I believe ppoe bridge is full bridge mode ? In Misc modem settings, there's also ppp half bridge mode. I wonder what difference would that make.

Question 2: The previous setup was wi-fi. Do you think I could make use of 2 nics per computer for a setup involving wifi for internet and ethernet for the application ? Setting manual ips for the ethernet setup so i can permanently set main computers IP on clients ?

PS: Forgot something, does the MTU change in this setup ? It's set 1492 in Asus and the modem. However on dslreports tweak test, it says received mtu was 1470.
