| [Raiding] Role based chat channels I would like for blizz to implement 3 new chat channels for raiding. When in raid, when you are given a role (or you self-nominate) you get added to a role-based chat channel. Changing roles should not automatically drop you from these channels, but leaving the raid party should. Raid leader should see all channels by default. /leave 5(6,7) can still work... and people can easily customize chat channel behavior already, so this shouldn't break any chat addons.
/5 Tanks (the shortcut could also be /rt)
/6 Healer (the shortcut could also be /rh)
/7 DPS (the shortcut could also be /rd)
No one would have to use them, but those who did would actually make things easier, especially in an LFR setting.
for example, I pop into LFR on my priest who is specced disc(atonement)/holy. I see 3 other priest healers. Hmm... While everyone is doing their own chat spam, or "buff me naow" QQ I can
/rh type 1 for disc, 2 for holy
once I get my responses, I know which spec i should take to balance out the toolkit.
Or on my druid
/rh I'll LB stack MT, who has OT?
so, if they did this... who would use it besides me?

You'll run into the same problem in LFR. More channels would only work if everyone was engaged in the game. The people who will read and use it are the people who already know it, or who are at least competent.
It's a strange phenomenon that people like being ignorant in LFR. Sometimes someone will go through a solid and thorough explanation, and still at least 5 people will do the exact wrong thing (kill extra corruptions, kill the wrong ooze, not switch off the arms on Madness, etc.).
In some situations I think its just someone trying to cheese their DPS numbers ... but the offenders are NEVER the best players on the meters, not by a longshot (exception: not switching to blistering tentacles on Madness). So its either they can't read, have chats turned off, or are willfully ignorant.
My solution is I just show other player's hots (or well, I heal on a shaman; other player's Earth Shields) and pick a different target. |

glad to see so many guilds are professionally organized, and don't solely rely on vent/mumble for 25man content. private channels allow people to be much more direct and honest without being subject to asshatery from someone in a different role. (I always hate having that one dps who insults the tanks/heals because "his main is a healer".... that we never see).

healing assignments are usually done in party, I raid 10m, and all healers are in party 2. raid lead says in vent "Healers figure it out"
I am the main assist in raid, Top Dps takes the spot i guess.
Vent makes it easy, call outs happen for event timers. Healers call out cool downs, mana regen.

Get the oRA3 addon to monitor all CDs you want for everyclass in your raid. Also a plus since it doesn't take up a bunch of your screen real estate too adn can resized and adjusted to only see what CDs you want to see. Doesn't see trinkets though....

Yes, during combat, healers that need to communicate should just use vent. Vent chatter should be tanks/RL and the occasional healer yelling at someone who is taking completely avoidable dmg for being a window licker.
however, in 25m there is nothing for dps to do pre-fight except complain that the fight hasn't started yet. Meanwhile, tanks need to coordinate swaps and CD usage while healers need to fight over who gets to focus heal that DK tank who fails to understand the concept of spreading out his plethora of defensive CDs. would you say... that I have a plethora? Si, el guapo... I would say you have a plethora... sorry, got distracted... vent isn't necessarily the best place to have the RL giving general guidance, while tanks discuss their issues and healers get theirs.
and that is why the fine raiding folks here (that do 25m) all chimed in that they use extra channels to some degree or another.
I wonder if the 3 amigos is available on Netflix.
