 | Internet got disconnected, modem deactivated (Distributel) Hi all,
I am currently a Distributel customer, for about a month a half now.
After an ongoing diagnosis with my slow connection and getting no where, I have decided to rent one of new modem DCM475 offerred by Distributel. This was, I believe, from two days ago and I have not yet received my modem.
When I thought things could not have gone worse than my current slow peak hour speed, yesterday night my internet got disconnected.
I was disconnected from the internet at approximately 10:30pm. After unplugging and power cycling the modem. When I finally opened my browser, I am presented Rogers site with a title "Online Modem Activation", saying they have difficulties connecting my modem to the network.
Can someone give me some insights?
Have my original modem been de-registered from Rogers before my new modem arrives?
This is getting unbearable.
Thank you for everyone who have taken time to read this post. |

 | reply to tvbppc Thank you for everyone who replied.
Finally got a callback from Distributel and it appears to be true. So they will revert back to my old modem for now and when I receive it, I will have to call them back again.
I hope after this incident, everything will be work...
Will report back when I get any home and plug my old modem back. |

Yes your modem was deprovisioned by Rogers. Same thing happened to me Thursday night after ordering the new modem from them. Since we're expecting speed increases to 28mbps by next month, I figured I would get the DOCSIS 3 for the higher speeds now. Distributel is kinda new at all this so I think some reps are sending the orders for a MAC/Serial change immediately instead of waiting for the customer to get the new modem then initiating the new modem provisioning. I called right away as I knew what the problem was and the rep confirmed that my old modem was deprovisioned, so he put in an urgent request to provision it again. I was up and running by morning, and the logs indicate it took about 4 hours for Rogers to activate it.
My new modem has shipped Friday and according to Canada Post it should be here by Tuesday at which point I'll call to have it provisioned.
It's a bit of a hassle, but I figure they're new at this and mistakes happen. It would be much faster if the independents could access the system to setup accounts, roll a tech, and provision themselves, but Rogers is too restrictive to allow that yet. Rogers doesn't like competition and they're fighting to make it harder and more annoying for consumers using TPIAs. But I figure some day there will be a portal that the independents can use to setup accounts themselves, just like third party companies can access Rogers' system to activate mobile devices. |

bfkscUnlimited and Unthrottled on Distributel join:2011-11-22 Toronto, ON | UPDATE: the DCM475 arrived today, a day earlier than expected. I called to have it provisioned at about 2pm and my old modem was down 3 hours later. By 5:15pm I was up and running with the new modem. I have 4/2 channel bonding with good signals and SpeedTest.net produced a 51mbps download 14ms ping with continuous streams of 25mbps and 1mbps up. Distributel provided a self-mailer bag to send the old modem back as promised which I'll do tomorrow or Wednesday after I fully stress test this new modem. So far so good. |
