 | [Hamilton] Does Cogeco ever resolve problems over the phone? I originally had the Ultimate 30 plan and when I received the mailing stating that the plans were changing and the $50 maximum overage fee was being phased out of that plan I call and changed it to the Turbo 20.
The house in question is a 6 bedroom student home filled with mostly tech-savvy males and the bandwidth tends to be on the higher side so I changed it to not have a 400+ dollar a month bill.
Everything was fine for the first month then all of a sudden I got bill for $562.51, my standard package plus $1.00/GB over. I called and said the maximum overage for my plan was $50 +taxes ($56.50) they agreed and said I would be credited the difference.
Next month a Bill of $605.86, service + last months overage problem +2% late fee. I call and go over the whole thing again, They say the see the ticket in the system for the credit but for some reason it didn't go through, All will be resolved, send us a payment of $158.15 and all is fine.
Fast forward to today, check my bill, $580.72. I call and get transferred around 3 times, put on hold for about 20 minutes until I finally get to speak to a nice lady. She sees the problem and says she is going to put me on hold for a few minutes until she can get me the new updated price. On hold for 5 minutes and then they drop my call.
I am unsure of where to go from here, I have called 3-4 times only to be given broken promises and my time wasted.
Thanks for any help. |

| I used to read these and think that its unbelievable that a business could treat their customers this way. Sadly from all the recent moves Cogeco is done, its extremely believable.
Try Marcer, he's a forum rep here.
I am going to cite this thread, and the other thread, when I call in to cancel next week. |

| Marcer tried to help me sign up today and when I called found out about the overage cost, swore I read 50 maximun for the 30 when i was on the page but was wrong. Glad I didn't switch to them as I can see they are just like Bhell only smaller.... Doesn't make sense to me how they rape there residential customers and give business accounts no caps, they are the ones with the money... Maybe after enough fake accounts are opened they can lay off all the dead weight on the phones that no less then a cheeseburger.. |

Of course, the Audet Family who owns Cogeco is from Quebec. Nothing wrong with making the stupid anglos pay, I guess. No surprises there. |

| reply to Miasma As I understand it you are on Turbo 20 in Ontario. High Speed Internet Turbo 20, data transfer capacity of 80 GB per month, $1.50/additional GB, $50 monthly maximum applies. »www.cogeco.ca/web/on/en/resident···kage.php
You should verify with Cogeco you are indeed on Turbo 20 and not Ultimate 30 (ie. did they actually switch the plan you are on).
AwolRJ here are the overage rates per tier.
High Speed Internet Express 4, data transfer capacity of 15 GB per month, $1.50/additional GB, $50 monthly maximum applies. High Speed Internet Express 8, data transfer capacity of 40 GB per month, $1.50/additional GB, $50 monthly maximum applies. High Speed Internet Turbo 14, data transfer capacity of 80 GB per month, $1.50/additional GB, $50 monthly maximum applies. High Speed Internet Turbo 20, data transfer capacity of 80 GB per month, $1.50/additional GB, $50 monthly maximum applies. High Speed Internet Ultimate 30, data transfer capacity of 175 GB per month, $1.00/additional GB, with no monthly billing limit. High Speed Internet Ultimate 50, data transfer capacity of 250 GB per month, $1.00/additional GB, with no monthly billing limit.
The most important thing to note is the Ultimate tiers no longer have a cap on UBB. Ultimate indeed, for Cogeco not so much for the consumer. |

Folks need to be very cautious about the ultimate 30 and 50 plans. With no limits on usage charges and the entire system open to so much abuse and zero oversight, those plans are nothing but trouble waiting to happen.
Already a couple of nightmare examples in this forum - likely many more we're not hearing about.

 | reply to Miasma They have some very nasty condescending CSR's at Cogeco. They like others run the script and have the set pre-programmed responses but also are resistant and most likely brainwashed to tow the party line at all costs. They are not helpful whatsoever and work to turn your business away. That will only hurt Cogeco going forward. I will try to Youtube one of these conversations as an example. |

Their customer service is far worse that Cogeco, and that doesn't seem to be hurting their positions or their profits.
Cogeco just posted record quarterly earnings and profits. Their market share is a pittance in comparison.
When the oligopoly is so well protected by a corrupt regulator its position is barely grazed by CSR shenanigans. All the churn caused by this crap is very well documented and anticipated. The difference is made up with price increases and cost savings.

 | reply to Nasty CSR I have never had a problem with Cogeco CSR. Every time I call the call center, they solve my problems (which sometimes have turned out to be things on my end). They are very helpful and friendly. |
