Is this Unit Dead?

HI - I've got a main wireless router (Netgear) and I want to use an old Motorola WA840g Wireless Access Point to extend the range of the Netgear.
What I've done so far is to hook up the WA840g to an unused port on the Netgear, and then tried to manually set it up, but I cannot reach the setup screens even after resetting factory defaults - the unit does not respond to its IP address.
Does this mean that the unit is history? Is there something I'm missing?
