Re: How can legit distribution go to $0 prices?

So, how do you compete with $0 prices for those who think everything should cost nothing?

Ever seen bottled water being sold at the grocery store? Everyone can drink from the tap for free (for all purposes the cost of the water one drinks from the tap is 0).

it costs money here. There is a bill for water usage. Although I haven't used tap water for drinking in 25 years.

Water is some $5/1000 gal. You drink maybe 15 gal/month. That's $0.075/month. For all practical purposes the cost of the water you *drink* is 0.

If simple drinking is seriously impacting your water bill...then I hate to imagine how many people are living at that location.

In many cases, tap water tastes like crap.

Not to mention that it can be hazardous to your health. That is why when bottled water is reasonably priced and available all over the place in grocery stores, people gladly pay for it.

I bet that if bottled water cost $20 per little bottle and was not as easily accessible as it is now, more people would be drinking it on tap.

The same analogy can be applied to IP items such as music, movies, TV shows, books, software, etc. When downloading a pirated copy, it could turn out to be crappy too, not to mention the hassle of finding it, waiting for it to download (especially if it's a rare item), putting it together, possibly risking to catch a virus/malware, etc. However, the above could be worth it if a legitimate copy costs an arm and a leg (kudos to whoever brought up Adobe) and/or you have to go to a store miles away to buy it or wait at least a day if you order it online (renting it on Netflix is out of the question due to ridiculously long waiting period), followed by having to sit through at least half an hour worth of commercials and FBI warnings that you cannot skip.

Not sure if sarcastic...

Especially when most bottled waters are simply tap water from another geographical location.

and most bottled water has all of the healthy properties removed during filtering. such as; fluoride that is required for your teeth.

And @ Rekrul- there is a good share of bottled water that tastes like crap as well.

That is, if there's anything done to the bottled water at all. There's no regulations on bottled water either - at least tap water has to meet certain health standards.

Fluoride is poison, and nearly all bottled water is just tap water.

Some controversy in what I am about to say, but, the only thing you want to drink from water is water (h20). All other mineral and nutritional value should be acquired from what you eat. If you want to supplement this idea, there are plenty of supplements in pill form and you can make juice (I drink several glasses of juice a day, mostly carrot, carrot apple and a mixture of salad greens). Eat a potato : ).

And most, if not all, that liquid in those juices come from the tap water they were irrigated with.
