 | BB50 Upgrade Ok, so I recently upgraded to BB50 from Extreme and I got a new Cisco mode that replaces my old blue Motorola modem.
I have a problem though - I set it up and the wifi works, but I have a desktop that is directly connected to it using one of the Ethernet ports. Whenever I turn on the desktop computer, the internet does not work. What I have to do is, go to Network settings, disconnect the internet, Troubleshoot, and then Windows fixes a problem - The Local Area Connection Adapter is disabled - Fixed. Then everything works. I have to do this everyday when I turn on the computer (only the desktop, the wifi is working 100%). What should I do to fix this? Did anyone experience a similar problem?
Thanks. |

Thanks. Sounds like a DHCP issue. Get online tech support to try and reload the modem or replace it. Or have it put into Bridge mode and use your own router. |

Is your network card made by Intel or Nvidia by any chance? The newest drivers from either manufacturer has been known to clear up these sorts of problems. -- Core i7 2720QM : GTX 485M @ 580M : 8GB DDR3-1333 : 320GB x 2 in RAID 0 : Windows 7 Professional x64 SP1 Anonymous posts are filtered. |

 | reply to Cornat Well if i had a problem with the wifi, I would have done that. But the wifi is always working, and the ethernet too works, I see the light on the modem, my computer doesn't seem to recognize/connect on its own. I have to manually troubleshoot and it auto fixes the problem, the problem is always the same as I said above.
Besides, my old router is a very old G router, don't want to use that. |

XT0RTS3x, Drugs, War join:2001-07-28 Edmonton, AB | I'll also put in a suggestion to check your network cable. If your Realtek NIC is Gbit (10/100/1000) compliant, ensure that you are using CAT5e cable vs CAT5. Older G routers from years back shipped with basic CAT5 cable which is not certified to work with Gigabit network devices. -- Core i7 2720QM : GTX 485M @ 580M : 8GB DDR3-1333 : 320GB x 2 in RAID 0 : Windows 7 Professional x64 SP1 Anonymous posts are filtered. |

 | I'm using a new cable that came with the Cisco modem. |

XT0RTS3x, Drugs, War join:2001-07-28 Edmonton, AB | reply to iHateShaw Alright, cable eliminated. Let us know if the driver update works. |
|
 | Updating drivers didn't really help, but I noticed something strange - whenever I open the Device Manager and click update Driver or Revert back to last driver for the network card, the network connection resets and the internet comes. It seems like a really minor problem in communicating. |

 | I have dual boot, so I restarted in Linux Mint. Everything is working in Linux Mint. Go figure,., |
|
 | So it seems its a Windows problem. But my other W7 laptops are working fine, so whats the problem with W7 desktop? |

 | reply to iHateShaw You said in your first post, Local Area Connection - Disabled.
If the problem is that everytime you restart, your NIC is disabled, this will definately stop you from getting online.
I would be looking for what is causing that, first. -- Yes, I am not employed and looking for IT work. Have passport, will travel. |

 | I searched for hours last night on how to fix this and it seems its a known Windows 7 problem. I'll try some of the suggested solutions posted on the web to see if it can be fixed. |
