What would you do with a cheapToshiba laptop?

I bought a dirt cheap Toshiba L35 laptop a few years ago.
It came with a lot of crap which I tried to remove but probably never did a good job, and it probably has some viruses too.

Would you put a new install of XP?
or would you try Windows 7?

Or would you order the Vista restore disc from Toshiba
and reinstall Vista?

(the compuer is cheap)

That's all I'd install, it's an antique from 2005!

No, I didn't. Honest... I ran out of gas. I... I had a flat tire. I didn't have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn't come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from out of town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake.......

Depends on the specs... That model seems to come with 512MB of RAM (only supports 2GB max), so Vista is really not a good choice (it's below the minimum requirements for most versions of vista anyhow).

I'd either put XP on it, or something lighter like Lubuntu 11.10.

+1 for what Guspaz said.

Reinstall a fresh install of XP on it and install Ubuntu as a dual boot.

I got for free... 3 Toshiba Toughbook CF-M34 laptops that they were throwing out at work. I don't have all the passwords; and they can't boot from an external USB source.

On the weekend, the hard drives are coming out and are going to have an intimate relationship with a 6 lb sledgehammer. Next week the remains will be dropped off at a recycle depot.

Or... Maybe I'll keep one as a doorstop.

Great minds think alike, unless it comes to baby raccoons that is.

Slap in more ram to up to to the max of 2 gigs, then install a hacked up and stripped down version of 7.

I'm giving my eleven-year old 12" 800x600 IBM Thinkpad A21e with its mobile Celeron 600 CPU, ATI RAGE Mobility 4MB videocard, 256MB RAM & 10GB HDD to a friend as I was just given in advance of my birthday a 1920x1080 Dell XPS 17 L702x with an i7 2760QM CPU, 3GB nVidia 555M videocard, 8GB RAM, Bluray & 2x750GB of hard disk space. He'll use the Thinkpad to play MP3s and some basic games like Jewels (OS is TinyMe Linux).

Such a beautiful machine. Made to last the ages while its competition rots away in a junk pile.

I'd use either WinXP or Win7 if you upgrade the RAM.

Built like a tank. Still works perfectly except for the tiny speakers.
