Rogers cut me off?

I switched to Distributel over a month ago and everything has been great. Even the transition was seamless.

However, that all changed today. For Distributel to work, as far as I'm aware, I need to have a cable connection. Now since I am officially Rogers free, the only cable signal I had running through my cable was an analogue signal. Today, that analogue signal was cut off (presumably by Rogers), and along with it went my internet connection.

Distributel tech support is non-existent (I waited over an hour in queue, twice, and I left my number for a call-back, but obviously never got one). I imagine this is standard among the resellers because of the recent CRTC ruling.

Fortunately, there are companies like Mobilicity that let me tether my unlimited data plan so I can post this. I'm not sure if this a Rogers or Distributel problem, I'm thinking it's Rogers. Anyone have any advice on what to do? Any way I can get in contact with Distributel? I can reach their sales reps who checked my connection and said it looked fine from their end. I was instructed to speak to tech support for trouble shooting. If I don't hear from them by tonight I'm going to have to threaten them with cancellation.

Rogers probably disconnected you because the techs records don't show the third party connection. Happens all the time when your cable line isn't tagged. You will have to call Distributel and get them to send out a Rogers tech to reconnect you..

There is no excuse for waiting in line that long for a tech. Try contacting the sales area and telling them you are going to cancel unless they get someone to connect it within 3 business days.

Your relationship is uniquely with Distributel. You cannot phone Rogers, you must contact Distributel. Do they have any web presence on some forum or ability to send them emails ?

Rogers disconnected my cable a month after I signed up with Teksavvy. I called the Rogers tech who disconnected me, and he came back the next day to hook me up.

So I got a call from Distributel last night. They said that they put in a ticket for a Rogers technician to come in and reconnect me. Now to wait and see how long that takes.

same crap happened to me with both distributel and tek cable.

luckily at my old place i had direct access to the cable hookups (townhouse) and reconnected it myself... then informed the ISPs.

Happens all the time, even if your line is tagged.

Sounds like Rogers is just being Rogers again.

If you keep Rogers Home Phone but move to Distributel for internet will this still happen to you, or are you safer since you at least have one service with them?

You'll be safe but if/when you cancel Rogers homephone you might have an issue if your line wasn't tagged properly.

Can you even have Home Phone with another provider?

Update: Rogers sent their technician today and my connection is back up.
