Well, poor dear still had a fever last night, but has managed to eat some and her spirits are a little higher. I will be able to help her some in a couple days. The doctor said she might have the mumps for 2 weeks, it has been nearly a week so far.

Found a pizza place there, online, that might be pretty good (though some of the toppings are weird, like eggs, wth?):

The only toppings she knows are ham and pineapple, and pepperoni (more recently), when a friend took her out. My favorite is Italian Sausage, mushroom, and onion. She doesn't like mushrooms, she says she doesn't understand them, but I'd like her to try Italian Sausage.

Guys, just an update. Her 4 day fever has subsided and she is in much better spirits, it is Valentines there right now (13 hours later there than here). If in a few more days she is well enough, she'll get a pizza (I don't think they deliver and she would certainly prefer to eat it out at a nice place). If handuraw is bad, she'll go to Alberto's. There's only a few places, for a city as big as her's, there should be a dozen but people there don't know pizza and most can't afford it normally.

Thank you for your prayers because they have worked, she sounded much better and much happier tonight. She still has a bump, but that seems to be subsiding too, maybe.

Guys, thanks for all the prayers and the silent ones here too. Just an update:

Her mumps are going away now, she still has a lopsided neck, but is in much better spirits and health. Today I was able to make sure she had a good meal of vegetables, she made a soup of Filipino cabbage, onion, garlic, Baguio beans, tomato, squash, and pork. Best meal she's had in a month, and she is in very high spirits. Usually she only has rice or a little meat and rice, veggies aren't cheap like in the USA. She told me 2 carrots is almost a dollar. Part of the health problems people experience there, at least in the cities, is people don't eat enough fruits and vegetables.

I hope to put together a nice care package and will send her some herbs and spices, she's never tried things like oregano, basil, and thyme. Fortunately, garlic, which is medicinal, isn't too expensive. Pork and chicken are the meats there, beef is a luxury. Fish is a staple, but when folks there are low on cash they buy salty dried fish, not very healthy. They eat a lot of, yuch, squid, blech. But you should see the gorgeous prawns they have!

Anyways, she and I thank you and want you to know that as my life prospects are starting to look up, and the US economy is starting to look up, we are feeling hopeful. The one thing that has me worried is the cost of fuel.
