 | [Speed] Wrigleyville Slow Hi,
Normally I have no problem pulling 20/2 service at full speed, but the past two days I have been lucky to get 2mb down.
Latest RCN Speedtest Result: Max Download Speed: 4.04Mbps Max Upload Speed: 109.4Kbps
Encoded Mac: 7c1353bbac4d3a8ee1a4a12181d9fda6fa87c23b
Can you take a peek and see if anything weird is going on in 60613 off my node?
I work from home a couple of days a week and it is actually painfully slow to connect back to work in the bubrs.
Thanks! Rob |

 | Good to hear it's not just me and others in Chicago have been experiencing issues. I had a complete outage for about an hour this morning (Sunday 2/12).
Any RCN techs who can confirm any issues and/or let us know what's being done to address them? Thanks!

 | reply to robgraves Good to hear it's not just me also (in 60613). Paying for 25 down, and usually it's fine (ish)... but yesterday and today I've been getting crazy slow speeds (1Mbps) at times, and lots of webpage timeouts.
It seems to be fluctuating like crazy... speedtest.net give me 10 down/1 up, then a second later 1.5 down/0.2 up.
This is really frustrating and calling support @rcn last night resulted in accusations of my computer being too old... which has nothing to do with this. Any update on if there's a problem in this area? |

Hey, I just had 50/6 service installed but il.speedtest.rcn.net is showing speeds that aren't even close! It looks like all my metrics are within spec, so I'm not sure what's up.
Here's the details:
Max Download Speed: 10.9Mbps Max Upload Speed: 426.47Kbps
Encoded Mac: dbeb2dfd7eaa844392eb21c225b46a95a2a3fed4 Downstream Limit: 53000000 Return Frequency: 30700000 Upstream Limit: 6300000 Forward Frequency: 681000000 Forward Modulation: qam256(4) Ret Channel Width: 6.4Mhz Downloaded: 29MB in 40 seconds -- ~Safe Hex~ Team Discovery ~ Project Hope ~ Like A Hurricane~ |

I'm supposed to get 25Mbps down/2Mbps up, but am currently getting 10Mbps down/256Kbps up on il.speedtest.rcn.net.
Thanks! |

Yea I saw your test but the one before and after were MUCH better. Either-way we noticed that load balancing wasn't working and that was turned on late Sunday. See if things seem better.
e203, your in a an entirely different location (from network perspective) than Rob so no relationship in problems at all.
Pawk, you need a troublecall so I'd contact customer service.
Josh, you looked like you were in the middle of a major noise problem at the time and for a number of hours before you post. That seems to have cleared up now though. -- Bryan Laird RCN Engineering |

 | Indeed, things have been much improved since Sunday. Thanks! |
