Need help with cable modem & AE setup

Just had the Lightning service installed this week. They installed their own cable modem, the Motorola SBG6580. I already had an Airport Express in the house, so installer went into cable modem, enabled Wireless Bridging, and Disabled Primary Network under that same titled button. Then he left (he said he didn't know anything about wireless networking, and was in a big hurry to get to his next job for some reason).

Well, I went into the AE, and set Connection Sharing to OFF (Bridge Mode), so both CM and AE are in bridge modes. Problem is every hour or two, I'm losing access to all my wireless devices (iPhones, iPad, two laptops). I have to go and unplug/plug the Airport back in to make the wireless devices work.

I called Apple support. After two hours of troubleshooting, they said it has to be something causing a conflict in the cable modem setup, and to call Motorola. I then called Motorola. Once hearing it was provided by BH, they said call BH for support. So, I called BH tech support, and once hearing my issue, said to call Apple. Go figure.

So, for the tech gurus here: Is there anything else that needs to be turned off/on in the cable modem config pages that wasn't already done by the installer? I'm still able to get into the screens, and one thing I noticed is that in the Basic/DHCP screen of the CM, it is showing all the wireless devices I configured with my AE, with a duration of each one showing an even 1 hour, never changing that number even after refreshing it 5 minutes later to double check the time. ALSO, under the Wireless/Basic screen of the CM, it shows the Wireless field as Enabled, but its faded out and I can't pick the drop down box to change it. Even though my devices are showing on the CM, when the AE is working fine, I'm easily able to join my network...until it goes down a hour or two later.

Seems that I have the CM and the AE conflicting somewhere. What needs to be done in the CM screens to ensure that the CM is just a CM, and I can support all my wireless needs through the AE only?

Thanks for any help!
