1 edit | Migrating Active Directory The AD domain controller at my work needs to be upgraded (software and hardware). I need to upgrade our AD from Windows Server 2003 to Windows Server 2008 R2, as well as upgrading it to a new server.
How should I go about this. From what I have read online, I should set up my new Windows 2008 R2 server, and add it to the existing domain. Then I should promote the new sever to DC and start transferring stuff from the old 2003 AD server. As you can see, I do not have a complete grasp on what needs to be done.
