| Cable internet Installation problems There was a problem with my installation on friday (wrong serial number provided to Videotron) and I was not able to get online.
It is supposed to be resolved today, two questions (Thompson 475 modem):
- any eta on what time? I'll have my wife check the modem at a specific time so I do not tie up the support line.
-on the day of my installation the all modem lights would all light up and then gro back to just a solid light on power and blinking on DS. Sine the videotron tech left (or perhaps after my call to Ebox) I only get the solid light on power and blinking on DS (no scrolling on the rest of the lights). Is this normal?
I have DSL at the moment so the lack of my new cable internet is a annoyance, but my billing cycle with Teksavvy is coming up in the next few days and I would like a "clean break" when I cancel the sevice so I don't have to fight with their accounting department |

for your second question... yes this is normal... if your modem is not authorized on the network, it will do what you described... |

 | reply to Dunlop Do you guys know of a way to make sure the techs don't make a "mistake" on my installation? Like look over his shoulder when he writes down the serial number or something? |

You should be fine, it was an honest mistake by Ebox for my installation. The S/N given was to an invoice that had been cancelled. When I called in the problem the ebox employee called me back and mentioned he had the actual modem that videotron had provisioned if I wanted to go pick it up and be online that day.
I'm not 100% sure if the installer has the serial number information with him. I had to work that day so I couldn't grill him with questions :P |

I'm experiencing this same problem as Dunlop so far... But from what I read, I just need to wait till max 3pm, and I should have internet by then.
Hopefully that's the case |

 | Erm.. Nevermind that. I just went downstairs and all the LEDs were on. Apparently, I also had to reset my router so internet would work
All is well for now |
