Re: [DSL] just got 12/1 from 6/800 is this normal?!?

I moved to the 16 meg plan today and was put on 16319/797 .

this sucks man, crossing fingers that you get the one your are supposed to and deserve.

your 16319/797 only yields 13.5 real time that what us 12MEG users should be on to compensate the overhead loss, and compete with rogers, what does BELL have to loose seriously?

So you went from getting full 12MEG to 13.5 ... wow what a jip, 1.5MB increase .... that sucks MIKE !!!

I hope you get this profile that your are supposed to get!!

Haha +1 HiVolt oh yea, you won't believe what they did to me,

I just got knocked to a ADSL1 6000/512k interleave profile, figure out that one, LOL.

Tek re-opened my ticket to get me back up, but these guys there must be stupid or what. Who drops someone from 12 to 6? Seriously.

Yeah and you're not on the IKNS remote, so there's no excuse for any low SNR or anything.

Your stats are excellent and can easily support the 19meg profile and 1088 upload.

Mike, you went from 12/1 to 16/1, right?

What did that cost you in fees? Just $25?

It's not all done, there's still the upload issue. They're telling me they can put in a ticket but I may lose that sweet download. Not sure what I'll do.

my honest opinion if I was in your shoes? You went from 13.9 down to 16.4 down. Difference of 2.5 megs, which is what you should be getting considering its FTTN speeds.

Really, I would leave it closed. Your what? Missing out on 32kb/s upload at best? Is it really worth the risk losing 2500kbps over 32kb/s upstream? I say NO!!

Leave it as is, 797 is fine. Maybe sometime in the future you will switch to 25/7 when you need 7 upstream or teksavvy might offer 7 upstreams on the 12 and 16 plans in the future if the tarrifs allow it.

You had 800 upload on the legacy, and now you have 797 on FTTN, with the awesome upload. Let it be bro!! I would leave it.

I just want my downstream, still stuck at 6000/512 over here, and no idea WTF BELL is doing, I'm seriously starting to get pissed.

Everything back to normal thanks to super courteous and responsive staff at Teksavvy Tech Support, never let me down in the past ever and haven't failed me now. Koodos to them.

Sad that they have to deal with BELL & ROGERS incompetence and people choose to give TS a bad name when really 98% of these problems are beyond their control and problems usually relate to these monopolist pigs that I mentioned.

Just watch... they probably have 2-3 tickets from you still open and someone's bound to screw up your line before that's all sorted out

Well this is the answer I received in the direct forum. I too upgraded from from 10 to 16 only to find out I really went from 10.5 to 13.8.

I've been seeing similar requests lately, however this has never been the way profile's have synced at Teksavvy.Teksavvy profile's have always synced at the advertised speed, unless there are issues, but generally no greater. On some rare occasions a customer may get a lucky Bell mistake and they will set up the profile higher when the line is installed, a mistake we don't care to fix if the customer doesn't mind, but we are unable to request them to set the profile greater than the package you're paying for:
Line Operational Status

Line Status: In Service UpTime: 65520
Line Profile Name: al1_d16320-5056_u800-256 Last State Change: 02/16 19:19:31
DLM State: DISABLED Equipment Type: OSLAM
Operational Status Speed (Kbs) Relative Capacity Occupation (%) Noise Margin (0..31 dB) Signal Power (0..20 dBm) Attenuation (0..60 dB) Block count
UpStream 798.0 76.0 12.0 2.0 1.0 1404090.0
DownStream 16319.0 80.0 13.0 8.0 17.0 24828040.0

Apologies for the inconvenience but you're already at full sync. Keep in mind when you speed test there is an over head %age that is taken to run the speedtest itself, and the higher the profile the more the actual speedtest takes to run. For instance I have a 4Line Mlppp, each syncing at 7 and bonded. When I speed test I know I have 28m but it only ever reads as high as 26ish, never at 28. I do not consider there to be any issues though with this.

The thing is that Teksavvy can open a ticket with BELL to ask them to put you on a higher profile if your line is capable of it. Depending on what your downstream overhead is.

12M profile = full 10.5M d/l sync
14M profile = full 12.1M d/l sync
19M profile = full 16M d/l sync

On your line 13.9 is what you get on a 16M sync. You loose 2M in overhead.

The thing is, you can ask to request for TSI to ask BELL to give you the overhead but Teksavvy doesn't do this from what I was told because of 2 reasons.

1. BELL can refuse and say no saying your already on the best you can get.

or worse

2. BELL will play around with your profile and if your put on an unstable profile and they have switch you from bumping you up to back down when nothing was wrong you could get a BILL for $99 from BELL for them saying you called a service request that nothing was wrong on your line.

So just for being asses BELL can send you a BILL for technically nothing just by playing around with profiles and Teksavvy cant eat that costs, that will go to you as a direct bill for some sort of repair that wasn't BELL's fault.

Also ... if you look at the stats you posted

UpStream 798.0 76.0 12.0 2.0 1.0 1404090.0
DownStream 16319.0 80.0 13.0 8.0 17.0 24828040.0

Teksavvy's report saying that BELL is saying your upstream capacity is at 76% and your downstream capacity is at 80%

From what other users have said here BELL WILL NOT crank your profile past 80% MARGIN RCO because they risk the profile/line becoming unstable and you get loss of sync and disconnects and etc.

So for what your getting 13.9 16 meg profile you are on your max what you can get on your line and they will not put you on 19M because then your line could become unstable and disconnects.

That why for me 16M is not an option. My line is 72% RCO at 14M so that means I get the full 12M profile but if I went ot 16M I would only make it to the 16M profile and thats it, no overhead, so I would loose out and only get 13.9 which is not worth it for me.

I stay at 12M (14M sync) or move up to VDSL and get 25/7 instead because thats a totally different profile/connection.

Which I might do in the future if we are allowed to buy our own modems from Teksavvy as the pricing is pretty good.
