Samsung SMT-H3272 Signal Level Question
I am finishing up moving some furniture and cables around.
I have the cable boxes all reconnected.
On my two Samsung HD-DVRs I am noticing something I don't recall seeing before.
The FDC level fluctuates on each screen refresh in a 0.4dBmV range:
According to the Set Top Diagnostics - Davic channel
RDC = 36.0
FDC = 8.8 - 9.2
1. Is an FDC that fluctuates on each refresh normal?
2. If yes, is fluctuating by up to 0.4 too large of a swing?
Notes: Reception overall is fine. Modem levels are fine and indicate only smaller 0.2dBmV downstream fluctuations. Only outward complaint I have is channel changes are a bit slow.
Regarding the FDC level itself - I haven't been concerned because:
After a new drop was run to the house in December (uggggh long story) I asked the RF tech to meter the coax as the FDC seemed high to me. He indicated it looked fine and that the diagnostic page FDC reading was only displaying the FDC for the strongest channel locked. But he said when he hooked a meter to the coax at the STB it looked fine.
.4 is nothing to worry about at all.. If it was 3+ then I would say it might be worth looking at but what your seeing is pretty normal.
