[HSI] Provisioning A Cable Modem

Does this really work? Not sure if I should try it or wait till the morning when customer support is available.

It worked for me, even though the window didn't close as it should have, when it was finished [for me], it still worked.

You've got nothing to lose by trying it.

lol, for a temp measure, just change your computers or routers DNS servers to 8.8.8.8, and 8.8.4.4, and you should get 1mbps service at least.

Looks like you already have your answer but, FWIW, self-install of a different modem has worked every time for me.

It's the same portal for customer self-installs/equipment swaps, too.

Last time, I know, was due to an unsupported modem.

The times I've done it I didn't need to do anything in the browser for a website address. Once I had the new modem connected, started my computer and opened the browser, it automatically went to Charter's installation page.

+1

I just purchased a new modem and the above worked for me. Just make sure your router is set to use Charter's DNS servers. (switch them to Google DNS when you're done!)

It's generally best to connect your computer directly to the modem for the couple of minutes it takes to do the self-provision.

I would say this is a good troubleshooting step. However, I was able to connect my new cable modem up to my router and I was able to register it without an issue.

What browser were you using? I can get it to work in IE, but firefox bombs.
